Yes ,if your tank is under pressure or water logged then when your water expands when heated it has nowhere to go, i'm assuming by the model you described that you are referring to your heating system. you need to drain the pressure down on your boiler to 0 than take an tire guage and check it on the sniffter valve underneath the blue cap. it should be about 15 pounds. if not pump it up with bike pump or compresser.wait for about an hour and recheck if not holding air then discard, you need to save the water you drain and pump it back in somehow, as it could be glycol, or have rust inhiters in it. if you take a reading without draining it will give you a false reading

Rattling AFTER water use, while heating

1) Rattling or clunking sound in pipes when water is shut off can be caused by lack of air chamber at the faucet. When moving water is suddenly stopped by faucet turning off, the forward energy of water suddenly stopping will cause pipes to shake. This is because water cannot be compressed. To stop this problem, each faucet has air chamber connected to pipes behind the wall. The air chamber is a simple pipe sticking up with a cap on it. The air chamber never fills with water, so a 'pocket' of air is contained inside the pipe. When water shuts off, the forward motion of water moves up the air chamber where it compresses the air which absorbs the energy, so pipes don't rattle or clunk.

2) Gurgling, popping sound inside tank is caused by sediment build up.

My preasure valve is leaking it is the second time i have to change it in 4 years. is that normal

There are reports that elements on the Marathon cause problems.
This comes from the guys who repair water heaters.
But I think the problems are mostly that the elements burn out frequently and are expensive to replace.
There may be other brand-specific problems I'm not aware of

Another thing you can do is put an expansion tank on the incoming cold water line.
Expansion tank is used when water heater temperatures are set high
The expansion tank absorbs pressure during high-heat events so pipes and tanks and pressure valves last longer.

I have a Therm x Trol on my water system. It has a small leak in the top. I'm on public water in a subdivision. Do I really need this device? Can I remove it with out harming my home?

depends on why it was installed in the first place...

most of the time these are installed to reduce thermal expansion... "hot water into the cold pipes"

I don't know your system, but I would just replace it. removing it could potentially bring back, or cause other problems we are not aware of, the reason it was actually installed.

My hot water heater is leaking out of long drain pipe

The long drain pipe is the expansion relief overflow, it is too hot. The thermostats are too high. Or the valve is shot. Do you notice the water being too hot to touch? You might want to drop the temp a couple notches. There are thermostats on both gas and electric units. Also, do you have hard water? I have seen hard water build up on the expansion valve and cause it to leak, you could open that up for a second and let out some water to see if it will unclog it. Careful! Hope this helps.
