STOP WHERE YOU ARE!!!
Look at the low oil light when trying to start. If its flickering you found the problem.
Disconnect the low oil level connector at the base of the motor. Then try to start the motor.
This unit is notorious for low oil shut down.
I wasted hours looking for spark.
BUT I forgot the simplist thing.

As for the second and third question about not having spark,,,you must take off the cover where the pull start rope is,,inside that is a flywheel,,,the magnito is most likely gone bad,,,simple to replace,,,unscrew the two screws and take into a small engine shop and get another one,,,there are many different size magnitos but most are the same..before removing the bad magnito,,,make sure you note the gap between the flywheel and the magnito as this must be replaced at the same distance ,,all in all ,,,its about a half our job at most if you are just half way mechanically inclinded.

I have a briggs and stratton 030547 3500 Watt generator and the engine has locked up, what can i do to fix this issue??

Remove the spark plug and crank the engine . Usually it has been flooded or shut while in full choke mode. This causes the condition you describe. If that fails you have internal issues and low oil was the culprit.

If it has sat for a while, empty the carb. float chamber, flush out with clean fresh petrol. Make sure fresh petrol is in the tank and try again.

Briggs & Stratton Briggs Stratton 6200 Watt Portable Generator voltage adjust

Usually the cause of slightly low voltage like this is that the engine is not running at full operating RPM. Find the high speed adjusting screw on the govenor linkage and adjust the engine RPM until the output is 220V - 240V

Need a replacement on-off switch for a DeVilbiss GB5000-2 generator

My switch broke as well. Instead of trying to find one, I removed it, and mounted a heavy duty toggle switch on the front of the shroud, just below the original location. Connect the original wire to one side of the switch, and a wire connected to a good ground to the other side. Btw, the off position on the toggle switch is run, and the on is now off. This repair has served me for years.

How to fix an off and on switch on a briggs and straton model series, 19e400 5000 watt, on and off switch located on top of the motor. is there a wire thats supposed to hook onto the switch somehow.

Kill switch should have a wire connected to the tab on the spark coil under fan cover. The switch is a means of shorting kill wire to ground. On some generators, there will be another method of shutting down the engine. Usually on/off switch will be more visable on the control panel. Most likely the switch on fan cover was not connected to prevent confusion.

No spark 10 hp briggs+straton model 19E412-010701, ON/Off Switch broke replaced that, but get no spark

Remove the kill wire from the the back of the ignition module and test to see if you then have spark. If you have spark you would have a bad ground but if you still do not have spark then you may have a bad ignition module.

I have a Briggs and Stratton Elite series5500 watt portable generator. I cannot get it started. It has gas and oil but will not start. What could be the problem

Ensure choke is turned on while starting.
Ensure spark lead is fully pushed onto plug.
Remove spark plug and check there is a spark by keeping spark plug against body of engine and cranking engine, if no spark check there are no broken wires in ignition circuit.
Turn off gas tap if present. Remove the float bowl while holding a container under it to collect any gas. Turn on tap and check the fuel flows freely.
Check the air filter is clean. If it has foam elements these can be washed with warm water and detergent, rinsed and then oiled with a teaspoon of oil evenly distributed through the foam.

Just bought a generator 5000/6250 style but my husband can't pull the recoil handle. i think it's stuck so we can't test the generator. the unit was shipped from california to the philippines. pls advice...

Try removing the spark plug and rotating the engine by hand.
It could be just a little corroded from shipment over the ocean.
But once you have it loosened up and the oil circulated, it should start much easier.
Make sure it has oil in it, because sometimes they drain the oil before shipping.
You could also have someone else try the starter rope. A new engine can be hard to start.
