One bad/faulty lead can cause a computer with lots of problems
replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA the ones that attach from your motherboard to hard drive
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ?
hope this helps

Solid amber light on GX270 no boot up

It's probably the memory or video card that is causing the problem.

When you plug in the power cord is there any lights whatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of the power cord?

When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear the DvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for a second or two? If so the computer is trying to boot or may have booted, but the screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with the laptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issue when you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous. Most times the problem is with the memory or Video Card. Count the Blinking Lights or Beeps and take note of their pattern (1 Long or 1 Long followed by 2 Short).

Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, then Press and Hold the power button for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in and hit the power button to see if it boots.

Maybe your memory is bad or the memory slot is bad.

Remove the Power Cord, Open the Case and remove one of the memory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x on it with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the next memory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set it aside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If it boots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and put it into the open memory chip slot and try booting.

My Dell Optiplex 745 Desktop PC Power light orange blinking how can i solved it..

Hello,
The orange blinking on your desktop power button says that there's a problem with either the power supply or the motherboard itself.
Please refer to this link for the diagnostic lights on dell computers.
What you can do is: 1. unplug the power cord 2. press the power button, hold on it for more than 5 secs 3. re-plug the power cord on your CPU 4. test if it the system will work.
If this troubleshooting step does not help, that means it is more likely that the problem is with the motherboard.
Hope this helps!

Optiflex GX260 does not power up

any beep codes?? if there isnt any beep codes your power suply probly isnt producing enough power to boot the system you can check for a burnt or hot smell coming from the power supply if you smell burnt pop corn then you need to replace the power supply they make a power supply tester but if your only needing it once not worth 20 dollars to buy it if the power supply is replaced and it still isnt working the mother board is toast

At the command prompt type-"fixboot"

My dell gx270 won't boot up. It comes on, I can

The first thing I would do is check the diagnostic lights at the back of the system. Usually on those model computers you'll see a set of 4 lights labled A, B, C, and D. These lights will tell you why the system isn't booting up. Below are the light diagnostics for your model.

Dell Diagnostic Lights

Also, this is a wierd fix, but it's worked before on over 100 Dell GX260's I've worked with. When the system is powered up, and not displaying anything, pull the power cord at the back. Normally this is NOT recommended, but yes, while the system is on, pull the power cord at the back. Plug it back in after 10 seconds or so, and power up the system. See if you see anything on the display.

Also, verify that the monitor is plugged in and working. You may have a dead video card. If you have both an onboard video card and an AGP video card, try plugging your monitor into the one that isn't in use currently. If it works there, you may have an issue with your other video device.

Best of luck!
