You don't have to remove the drum to get to the heating element. Remove the cover at the bottom of the dryer, it should be on the right at the bottom.

WITHOUT THE MODEL NUMBER THIS WILL BE AN EDUCATED GUESS PRY THE TOP UP AT THE EDGES IN FRONT BETWEEN THE TOP AND FRONT PANEL. THEN INSIDE THE FRONT PANEL WILL BE 2 SCREWS HOLDING THE FRONT TO THE CABINET THEY MAY BE 3-4 INCHES DOWN ON BOTH SIDES UNDO DOOR SWITCH WIRES AND RAISE UP FRONT AND REMOVE. NEXT REMOVE THE THREE SCREWS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DRUM ON THE INSIDE. UNDO BELT OF COURSE AND REMEMBER HOW IT IS ON. AFTER 3 SCREW REMOVAL PULL DRUM OUT AND THERE SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE HEAT ELEMENT. WHEN INSTALLING NEW ONE FOLLOW DIRECTIONS TO THE LETTER IT MATTERS. GOOD LUCK TO YOU.

the thermistor in air outlet duct is very common for these. with front panel off find plastic duct from blower at bottom. pull out thermistor and look at inner side. it has triangular shape and if you can see shiny redish color at tip instead of all black then its worn. this causes numerous heat and control issues.
