Question about Dell UltraSharp 2001FP 20.1" LCD Monitor

Lines top to bottom

    When I turn the monitor on it operates normally.  After 10 to 15 minutes the screen, starting from left to center, develope colored lines and I end up with half of a screen.Just before I loose half my screen there is a fuzzy green strip in the middle of the screen from top to bottom.

I would open it and inspect for obvious sings of burnt components (caps) and reconnect all internal cables. It may be just a loose connection or oxidation on the contacts.

Most likely the LCD Panel itself. Could be the logic board but hard to tell without changing it. Check here for DELL parts www.lcdrepair.us
They have instruction videos and parts.

My laptop has been working well until today it starting showing coloured lines running from top to bottom. What can I do to stop this?


Basically, your screen is dying. Sooner or later the screen will display more color lines. If somehow it is not acceptable anymore, then you need to replace your screen. The screen cost is around $55 (at eBay). If you can't install the new screen, then you can ask local laptop tech person to install it; it may cost you $50 or more. Sometimes, pressing the top of the screen (where the line is displayed) may solve the problem.

do the proper isolation proceedure and try unhooking the Su from the SC board to see if you then get a normal picture all the way across the bottom half of the screen? I am assuming the Vertcal extends extends all the way from top to the bottom of the screen?

if the lines extend top to bottom and are thin, then the LCD panel is most likely defective.

check the resistors and capacitors in vertical section of the television..or change the vertical ic.
