50:1 using fresh gas and a modern synthetic saw oil premixed in it's own container. Be sure to shake the container thoroughly just before filling the tank each time to prevent oil starvation. Don't make up more than a gallon at a time unless your business is sawing. Hope this helps!

What kind of oil do I need to use in my husqvarna 16" chain saw?

Unleaded fuel with Husqvarna two stoke oil mixed at 50-1, for the chain you need a non fling chain oil, both should be available from your local Husqvarna dealer.

I want to know does the husqvarna 455 rancher chainsaw use 50:1 or 25: 1 fuel mix

What we always say is if you are useing Husqvarna two stoke oil it is mixed at 50-1 if you are useing anybody elses oil it should be mixed at 25-1 as we do not know the quaility of other peoples oil, avoid oils from super markets and mass traders, always try to use Husqvarna two stroke if possible, its not the cheapest oil out there but remember this a new cylinder and piston for this saw retails for £217 + tax, so cheap oil can work out very expensive

I have a husqvarna 455 rancher that won't run at full throttle unless the choke is on. It runs at half throttle fine.

Clean or replace the fuel filter. Check the fuel lines for decay or other damage. Check the muffler for plugging of the screen. Be sure to run with fresh fuel mix and to shake the container thoroughly each time just before filling the tank to prevent oil starvation. Hope this helps!

I inherited a Rancher 50 20" chainsaw from my uncle only noone know the oil gas mixture.

using good quality 2 stroke oil use ratio 50:1

that is 20 mils of oil per 1 litre of petrol that you mix

put oil in can 1st then add petrol and give good shake

so if mixing 5 litres pour in 100 mils of 2 stroke oil and add 5 litres of fuel only

cheers hope it helps

Fuel ratio 50:1 = 1gal premium/2.6oz quality 2-cycle engine oil
Fuel/Oil Mixture
  1. Use a quality 2 cycle oil and mix it to the OIL supplier's recommended ratio. Today I use Stihl 2 cycle oil mixed @ 50:1 in a Pioneer that I purchased new in 1980. There are no gouges or scratches on the piston or cylinder and I have no carbon build up on the piston top. The manual (on stone tablets) recommends 24:1. Over the years the mixture has leaned from 24:1 (Saw Recommendation) to 28:1 (Lawn boy mower recommendation) to 32:1 (Oil provider 2gal premium/8oz chainsaw 2-cycle engine oil - used for many years) and finally the last 5 (±) years 50:1 (1gal premium/2.6oz Stihl 2-cycle engine oil)
  2. Any fuel containing ethanol is not good with chainsaws. Mix what you expect to use within a few weeks. Anything over 1.5 months old use up in a 4 cycle engine. HTH
