1. Do you get the same problem in regular lighting as well? If you do, it could indicate an LCD chip level problem, and if your camera is under warranty, I recommend you get it replaced.

2. You could try using a "viewing hood" to block out the sunlight,as shown in the pic below:
When the sun is shining - d86830e.jpg
You can purchase that online from HERE. I think it cost about $15-20

3.You could even try anti-reflective coating on the lens, although I do recommend the "hood" from point 2 above.

4. If you do not wish to spend $15-20 on the hood, you can try an inexpensive alternative. Take a piece of cardboard and cut it in such a way that one end fits exactly around the digital viewfinder and gradually tapering in to a narrower viewing area. About 2inches depth should be enough. Tape the edges, and voila! you have a hood. Should warn you that this may be a bit of an inconvenience as you will have to hold the hood in one hand and click with the other. But as long as it solves the issue...;)

The pic below will give you a rough idea on how you should cut the cardboard to give you the "tapering" effect on the board. Well, it could just be a case of trial and error, till you get the correct shape.

Unfortunately, there is no other solution, as your camera does not have any other settings. Hope that helps!

If you find that the solution/answer I provided led you to, or resulted in a fix, please close the ticket with a FixYa! rating. I would be very grateful for your show of appreciation.

I am getting bit day and night but I cant see anything. I need someone to let me know what this is.

Day is when the sun is shining, and all details are clear. Night is when the sun is not shining, and it is harder to make out details.

My pictures have lines through them

If your images have lines through them and you were shooting I full sun and facing the sun with your subject in front then this is known as back lighting and you need to change your angle at which you shoot your pictures try putting the sun over one of your shoulders so that your subjects are lit by the sun. If suddenly all of your pictures are showing a blue line in the same place then it could be a little more serious. It might be that your screen on your camera is going or gone bad and needs to be replaced from the manufacturer or it could be the sensor/processor of the camera has gone bad in which case the camera will unfortunately make a rather expensive paper weight. These are my best informed thoughts and I currently work at a camera shop. If you purchased the camera within the last year then it may still be under warranty. If not contact Kodak or the store where you purchased it and proceed from there.

How can I stop the sun shining into myt.v. in the conservatory?

1) try moving the furniture around so that the screen has its back to where the sun comes in
2) fit blinds or pin a sheet up on the windows to stop the light coming in.
3) create a make shift sun block, out of a piece of card which you could tape to the side of the screen
Good Luck! Thumps Up Please!

My screen is VERY dark...I can shine a light onto it and I can see it...how do I repair it?

Hi,
On your laptop there is an Fn (function) key and another button showing the image of sun. Keep Fn pressed and then click the "sun" button to increase the brightness of your screen.

Can,t see screen in day light due to glare

No, there is not a replacement screen avaliable that will be any different than the one that you currently have.

Try and turn the brightness up a little bit, or all the way  if you have too. That should help with the glare in the sun. If it is mounted in your car, try and mount it in a place that the sun will not be shining on it so directly.

Flaw on LCD monitor

This is normal. It may be distracting, but what it is is light. If you notice, it happens when there are bright spots, lights, reflections. These distortions will show up in video so try to avoid aiming at bright things while in video mode. Another type of flicker will happen mostly in florescent light.

Before CCD image sensors, video camera used tubes and aiming them at the sun or bright objects would burn the tubes permanently so cameras have come a long way, but by the nature of cameras being devices that record light, it is hard to eliminate that effect altogether (similar to red eye...just can't be a perfect science due to human nature of having blood vessels in the back of their eyes that when bright light is shined into them, their pupils open and the red color is reflected and shows up as red eye...this is best fixed in a photo editing program. It is hard to totally prevent, but changing angles and not shooting directly head on at subject helps). But I digress...

If it is really distracting for you, here is the one thing I found helpful; recompose the shot slightly by moving yourself, the camera, the angle (doesn't have to be dramatically different, but try to have the sun or light source behind the camera). As you move around, continue to push the shutter halfway down (each time not continuously) to bring subject into focus (getting your green box or boxes that indicate proper focus). Sometimes the lines will disappear if you change your shot even very slightly.

Hope this Helps!
