Not getting any ice

Hello, the small ice tray is full of ice but this isn't being tipped into the large dispensor. Have changed the filter and we have good water pressure. My Ice tray is not dropping ice into ice bucket. When I press the test button on the ice tray it drops ice into bucket. When water refill into tray I hear one chime, but ice tray still fills. The automatic ice dispencer does not work without me pressing the test button.

not getting any ice, where is the reset button, or test button

  • bob7175 Jul 06, 2008

    Same problem

    same problem for us too.

  • Anonymous Jul 16, 2008

Yeah mine too. I have to keep pressing the reset button so the ice drops from the tray every couple of hours. Water fills up the tray no problem. Just the auto function stopped working. Is there any permanent fix to this?

We've got the same problem - from what I am seeing we get too much water in the tray and then the ice doesn't drop - and when it doesn't drop we have water running over the top of the cubes that are still in the tray. Has anyone found a solution to this?

Same as others describe. The tray dumps occasionally but mostly doesn't; always running out of ice.

Hello here is how to fix the problem, first you have to remove the ice bin then then press the freeze temp and power cool buttons for about 12 seconds until the display panel switches to the option mode and you hear a beep.

A number under "Frige temp" corresponds to the option number. Press the fridge temp. button to increase the number and the power cool button to increase the number and the power cool button to decrease the number. set the option number to 3

now you have to select the input data to control the water supply time. Press the freeze temp button to increase the value. Press the power freeze bottom to decrease the value. Choose the right amount of water supplied to the ice tray which should be to where the water level is even with the rib on the inside of the tray.

input data = 00, 5 secs/01, 4 secs/02, 3 secs/ 03, 6 secs/ 04,7 secs/05,8secs

Let em know if this helps or not.

Im gonna be bold and take a stab at this problem. (since I dont see anyone else doing it).... Lets see, Has anyone tried turning the freezer setting down a notch? Try that and give it a day. My theory is; ALL ice makers have a thermostat in them and if they arent at the right temp than they will not go into the "haverest cycle". When you press that button you force it through that cycle. Therefore if your freezer is cold enough, The ice maker won't make ice! This could also be a sign of a BIGGER problem..... Things to look for to help solve problem;

**Can you hear a fan running in freezer?
**Is there any snowy frosted ice on back wall in freezer?(at the bottom area)

Some more info at my website at:

This will give ya a wee bit more information....

Leaking water

IF YOU CHANGED THE FILTER AND GOT WATER OUT THE DISPENSOR AND HAD A RUSH OF AIR COME OUT OF THE LINE. YOU MAY HAVE GOT WATER UNDER THE DRIP TRAY. WATER WILL THEN COME AROUND AND APPEAR THAT THE DISPENSOR IS LEAKING. OR YOU MAY HAVE NOT PURGED ALL OF THE AIR. LET ME KNOW.

The ice maker stopped making ice. Any solutions?

A lot of filters ( not all ) do not even access the ice maker . Only the water dispensor . If your water dispensor is working fine , then you need to replace the dual water inlet valve behind the refrig . This is the piece the wall water line connects to . It is called a dual valve because there are 2 coils on the valve . 1 for the ice maker and 1 for the water dispensor .

The ice shoot leaks water into the exterior tray

It sounds like the dispensor flap , is not closing , letting warm air into the freezer . Remove the top cover from the freezer door hinge and disconnect the plug . This removes power to the door . Use a small screwdriver , and pry the bottom of the dispensor display board outward . Remove the 3 plugs . Remove the 4 screws on the white dispensor housing ( 1 on each corner ) and slide the housing out . In the top right , inside the dispensor area , you will see a solenoid with a plunger . These 2 parts usually rust , and have to be replaced . Pt # WR62X10055 . Only 3 screws hold this piece on , so it can easily be replaced .

GE side by side refrigerator: water/ice dispensor

I bought a brand new smartwater replacement filter and after a very short time, my water stopped coming through the door.. took out the new replacement filter and inserted a brand new one .. problem solved.. apparently some of the g.e. smartwater filter replacement cartridges don't have the high enough two plastic inserts which are attached to them at the top of the filter when you screw them on... if you have taken your cartridge in and out a few times, i think it wears down the plastic so it doesn't fit properly and won't put up whatever it is supposed to push up to make the water come through.. I personally think this is a g.e. problem with the replacement filters...

No ice or water from dispensers

Womers, make sure there is not a lock-out on the dispensor panel. If there is, hold it in for 5 seconds and see if the dispensors come alive. Because both water and ice are not working, I would think you have a dispenser board issue. Catriver..post back.
