To reset the BIOS password will require a contact with Dell Technical Support. Resetting the BIOS or removing the CMOS battery will not reset the BIOS password. When you call Dell, you'll have to verify your ownership of the system, the provide the password prompt ABCD123-595B or such, then they can in turn generate a master password to access the system.

The battery status LED is indicating the battery is dead. PC Batteries last about 300 to 500 recharge/discharge cycles and if it hasn't been replaced, then that is the next step.

Hi Odek, You have to short the CMOS reset pins on the motherboard. You can find the location of these 2 or 3 pins on the motherboard manual. For Enisco's problem the monitor power cable is not properly earthed. You can either earthed it by connecting a wire from any conductive part of the monitor to a earth pin on the wall plug or something conductive near the monitor like a will sill. I would probable change the wall plug or the faulty power board. regards

RTM = Read the Manual
Get onlineand got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "DellSupport" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operatingsystem when requested. Look for Manuals and search them for CMOS or BIOS Password.I searched the manual and saw nothing that would allow you to reset the Bios Password. I even search the net and removing the cmos battery for a couple of minutes did not reset it. You can try taking the laptop apart to get to the cmos battery and removing it for overnight. That might clear it.It seems like Dell is trying to stop theft of the laptop. So they keep on their server who the original owner is based on the Serial Numbers and Service Tag on the laptops. You can call them and if you can prove you are the original owner they will probably help you out for a fee of course.

I didn't open my Toshiba satellite l510 laptop because of BIOS password.

Hi ashisbd

If it is a Password holding you up at POST and the Laptop will neither go into BIOS nor Boot at the POST Screen, then the only way around this is to either enter the correct password of to dismantle it and disconnect and reconnect the CMOS battery inside, reassemble the laptop and then try again (see images below for a typical CMOS Battery Access and a typical CMOS Battery).

In some laptops there is an extra level of security for BIOS Passwords. The BIOS password is stored on a subsidiary chip rather than the main BIOS Chip and disconnecting and reconnecting the battery will not work.

I hope this helps.

How to remove BIOS password sony model PCG-3E2L

Remove the CMOS battery

If you attempt to pull the battery, make sure that you have all other sources of power disconnected (AC power and notebook battery). Keep the battery out for about five minutes before reassembling the laptop.

I forgot BIOS password for SONY PCG-GRX520

The best way for the Sony is to remove the cmos battery for at least 30 minutes. Remove the main laptop battery and leave it out. Make sure the power adapter is not attached. The cmos battery can be reached after removing the keyboard and is attached to the motherboard vis a small cable. If you have a "jumper" that come equipped on hard drives to jump the pins on the back, you can "short" the pin connections on the cmos battery socket, power the laptop up using the ac adapter and letting the computer go through the bootup process. When this happens power the laptop back down, take the jumper off and replace the cmos battery. Power back on with just the ac adapter and boot the computer. If the laptop still askes for a bios password just hit enter and it should allow you to log in. Once in go into the bios and reset the date and time. Once that is done power down and replace the main battery. Reboot the laptop and let Windows load.

Need to know how to reset power on password for hp

If this is a BIOS Lockout Password, then you would need to Pull the CMOS battery From the laptop... Which most likely means Complete Disassembly of the laptop just to get to the battery... You would have to unplug the battery... Make sure the Laptops Charging Battery is also Removed and the AC Adapter is NOT plugged in...
Once the CMOS battery is removed, Hold the power button down for 30 seconds... then replace the battery and see if it is bypassed/removed..

There is a good chance that the BIOS password is on a security chip on the motherboard and if this is the case, then pulling the CMOS battery will do you no good... You will need to replace the motherboard if this is the case...

Remove the battery, open the chassis and locate the internal backup battery (size of a small coin), disconnect it and let it stay disconnected for 24-48 hours.
Reassemble and you are ready to go!
