Updating my ps3 from 1.93 ver to a 2.10 vers.

When online(signed in) its in the option menu on the ps3 at the top it says update ps3. this should auto run the link for it. But ive had problems with my ps3 same as yours and it was the updates that caused the problem. so i think when you update it, it still wont read games. And you'll have to call sony for a replacement anyway.... hope this doesn't happen for you but i wouldn't hold my breath for the update to sort it

PS3 wireless connection and configuration problems

I don't know if you've tried Sony's website, but check this link http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/settings/connectwireless.html and see if anything there helps. It sounds like the PS3 isn't detecting all your settings automatically.
