your online profile is not on system itself stored in sony database just use a memory stick and it will save your game saves and any other media. when you get new system create a user and when you go to sign up for psnetwork use existing account info and your account will be there
When online(signed in) its in the option menu on the ps3 at the top it says update ps3. this should auto run the link for it. But ive had problems with my ps3 same as yours and it was the updates that caused the problem. so i think when you update it, it still wont read games. And you'll have to call sony for a replacement anyway.... hope this doesn't happen for you but i wouldn't hold my breath for the update to sort it
hi there to get online with your ps3 you go to your internet connections go to t mobile icon select properties then go to advanced tick the share connection then you might have to turn your windows firewall off or just change the settings then plug the cable into the ps from the laptop if you've only just got the t mobile i would send it back because its not so good with the ps3 always have problems
