Dell wireless adapter for Windows XP Media Centre can not find keyboard

This problem is about Dell wireless mouse and keyboard for Windows XP Media Centre.

The main problem lays with the keyboard as I use my own mouse wich is from logitech and isn't wireless. I don't have any problems with the mouse.

The actual problem is when I plug in the USB adapter for the keyboard (It is a little device that is shown on the picture on the top left) and press the button on the adapter and then on the keyboard that they can't find eachother.

The computer can find the adapter as I see lights come on. The keyboard has fresh batteries altough I ani't sure if it goes on as there are no lights on the keyboard. When I press the button on the keyboard and adapter I see a blinking light on the adapter, but it keeps blinking, it should start blinking faster as it finds the keyboard and then stop.

Please help me!

My computer was left packed for about a year after a move. It was shipped using the original packaging and stored in a room in the new house. It worked fine before the move. Upon unpacking the wireless keyboard does not work. The wireless mouse sync and works fine. 1) The batteries in the keyboard are properly installed and new. 2) I pressed the green button on the back of the keyboard without any change in status. 3) I checked the keyboard device manager and it says it is working properly.

The first thing to do when you have a hardware problem is always to go to Device Manager :Start>My Computor{left klick on My Computor}>Properties>Hardware>Device Manager. In the drop down, find your device that is giving you problems.Double klick on the device and see what Windows says about it ,whether it needs drivers or has a physical problem.Your USB adaptor seem to be working OK since it is oscillating ,meaning that it is searching for the Keyboard transmission to lock on.This means that you have loaded the correct driver software for the usb device.I suspect that your problem is with the Keyboard power-make sure you have installed the batteries correctly{polarity check}When all is working properly, you should find the keyboard listed under Keyboards in Device Manager.Double klick on it to see if it is working properly.Your USB device should appear under USB Controllers.Regards

Move the wireless adapter (one end connects to the keyboard/mouse ports on your computer) closer to the front of your computer, i.e., closer to where your wireless KB/mouse are located.

I have a wireless keyboard and mouse. I do not have the CD

If you have Windows XP or later you can just plug the wireless receiver and let XP find it and install automatically. You may have to reboot to get it installed completely. Alternatively, if you have internet access you can go to the home site for the keyboard and mouse and download the installation.

Explain wireless keyboard wireless mouse

You just plug the usb adapter for the wireless keyboard and mouse into the computer and run the install disk. Wireless just means that the device sends signals to the recieving devices.

Dell wireless mouse and keyboard not working

Well, you will need at least another keyboard to get going, or else I,m afraid nothing can be done. See if you can borrow a k/b from a friend preferably a mouse as well.

Apart from that you can try the usual..use new batteries in both k/b and mouse, press connect button on reciever and connect button on k/b, wait about 20-30mins and connect the mouse the same way..

Better try to download and install the latest driver from the manufacturer's website first..

Hope this helps..

Wireless mouse

With USB wireless mice, you plug in the USB wireless adapter, and turn on the mouse. Windows XP should automatically install the software, if not, install the software on the disk that the mouse came with (if there is one). If there isn't a disk, Windows XP will most likely install the drivers automatically. Press the connect button on both the mouse, and the USB adapter, and it should all work. Good Luck
