E5 is comp overload code . if you have infared remote for indoor units point at anyone while pushing all 3 buttons at the same time- 'mode' 'temp up' temp down' this will bring up OO where temp set point is normally displayed. scroll up or down with temp up or down buttons (1st digit only) untill you here the beeping sound change tone, this is the 1st part of the fault code. press mode once to change to 2nd digit, scroll again with up and down listening for change of beep- 2nd part of code ie "E5". press mode again will bring up afunny looking T-test mode. press mode again to exit. THATS VERY ACCURATE SOLUTION.SAVE IT FOR FUTURE.WISH U SUCCESS .REPLY FOR FURTHER ASSISTANCE IF REQUIRED.BYE

after cleaning the filter, if I remember correct, unplug, wait for a minute, then hold down the power button and plug it back in, it should beep, and thats it.

Try a hard reset first.Disconnect the machine for about 30 minutes and reconnect after that to see if the issue is resolved.

If the hard reset does not work, try to operate the unit in auto mode
by moving the Auto Control switch to the “A” position under
the front grille. See if the unit works now. If it does, it seems a problem with the remote or the remote sensor on the unit.

Try switching off the circuit breaker for 10-15 minutes.

Without the model number, I can't point you to the exact manual for your particular unit. However, here's a link to a web site that has about 38 manuals for various Fedders models. You can download a manual and/or users guide for free and look at the operation and troubleshooting sections to see what you need to do to get your unit working properly.

Just scroll down the page once you get to the web page to locate your particular model number, then click on it.
