When you first go to turn your PS3 on, instead of just pressing the power button quickly, hold it for 5-6 seconds until it beeps again, then let go. This forces the PS3 to autodetect and will bring it up in the 720P thats native to your monitor. I move my PS3 around between 3 totally different TVs and am constantly having to do this, it works.

If you're getting audio, then your PS3 is sending a signal through your HDMI cable. The problem sounds like your PS3 is sending a 1080P signal while your TV is a 720P Max Rez monitor.

Connect a composite cable from your PS3 to your TV, switch to that input, and change your output resolution to 720P or Auto. It is most likely set to 1080P.

Solution #2 is the first step and the easiest. and more than likely the correct one.

The first suggestion is almost right. You need to set the video out to auto. This setting will auto adjust to the maxium resloution of the display. This will prevent problems in the future. The second issue is the set might not be hdcp compliant, which would prevent video to be displayed.

Trying to hook up PS3 to Panasonic viera LCD hdtv with HDMI cable and tv is not reading it and has no picture or sound. What may be the problem? Thanks!

hi,
ur ps3's HDMI out is a full hd video (1080p). if u r tv does not support full hd this problem can occur. do one thing. connect the ps3 to any full hd tv and go to its video setup, then down scale its video resolution to 1080i. after that connect the ps3 to ur tv. u will surely get video.

PS3 surround sound

You will need the optical cable. My receiver only passes video through the hdmi. So I hooked up the HDMI cable to the tv, and the optical cable to the receiver. Once that is done you have to go to the audio settings for the PS3 and chose audio through the optical.

Problem hooking up my Yamaha RX-V461 to my PS3

When you connect the optical cable to the ps3 you must change the output to optical on the ps3. To do this, startup your ps3 then go to settings then audio output settings and change it to Digital Out (Optical).

Make sure you have selected the HDMI output option in the PS3 menu, otherwise you will get no picture or sound, connect you standard cable to your tv first which came with PS3 to do this first.

PS3 setup to Denon AVR 2807 & Samsung LCD

Azahid

Since you are running the to LCD monitor instead of a LCD TV this is where you run into the issue. because the monitor is not setup to pull out the audio from the HDMI connection. So there is a few ways that you maybe able to to this.

The first one is look around at the different output cables out there the PS3. (I just got one so I do not know the accessories that are out for the PS3) This is becoming a common setup so if Sony does not have cable that will split off the audio then a 3rd party group may. I know they have one like that for the XBOX 360.

Another you can try is if your monitor will except an analog connection you may need to go that way. That is how I have my XBOX 360 that is my room connected. I have a RBG HD to VGA connect the VGA input on the monitor and the audio going to my sound card.

The reason why I suggested going analog is that right with our curent technology that if you are run with the 2 formats at the same time you will get audio/video sync issues. So you need to go all analog or all digital.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions on this and/or need me to clarify anything.
