Question about PC Desktops

I do not know how to make a movie with storyboard and audio with Roxio; and when I use windows movie maker and try to access the saved movie to burn to a dvd in Roxio, I manage succes about 1/100 times; it will not let me access the movie to add and burn, not matter where I save it. I am EXTREMELY frustrated. Shouldn't this be easy. Is there no way to copy from windows movie maker to Roxio and burn the stupid thing? What is the simple, easy answer? Carolyn Finley

Carolyn, you can use another software to burn the file you made in the windows movie maker. You can use Nero, b4f(burn4free) or other softwares...not just try it on roxio...ok..

Publish and save your Windows Movie Maker movie to your computer

As most of you know, I make computer video tutorials and post them to Youtube for everyone to learn about computers. I do not use anything fancy or even expensive, in fact I use the free Camstudio program to record the tutorial and Windows Movie Maker to edit it... Windows movie make comes with most versions of Windows. In this tutorial I will show you how save and publish your windows movie maker production to your computer. This way you can watch it anytime you like, email it to friends, or upload it to Youtube.

What do you need to save a movie to your computer?

* You will need to have Windows Movie Maker on your computer. If you have a normal version of Windows then you will have Windows Movie Maker installed as well, however some versions do not have it. For example Windows Seven Ultimate doesn't have it.
* You will need a finished movie ready to save. You might have used Camstudio or even a video camera to record it.
* You will need storage space to save the movie to. If you save your movie as an .avi then it will take up twice as much space as a movie saved as .wmv. I usually save my movies as a .wmv as Youtube happily takes this format.

How to Publish my movie to save it on my computer?

When using Windows Movie Maker instead of saying save movie, this program uses the term "publish movie". Therefore we will publish the movie to the computer. This will save the finished movie file to play at a later date.

In this tutorial I will presume that you have finished editing your movie and now want to save it onto your computer.

1. In the tasks menu on the left side, when you have your program open, there is a menu. If you do not see this menu, press on File at the top and choose publish from the drop down menu.
2. If you do see the menu, go to the Publish section.
3. Click on "This computer". See the screenshot below.
4. A Publish movie dialog box will appear.
5. Fill in your movie name.
6. Press on browse to choose where to save your movie on your computer. See screenshot below.
7. Then press the next button.
8. The next window will appear.
9. Choose what setting you want your movie to be. If you choose the top choice, Best quality for playback then your movie will be an AVI and will be bigger in size and need more storage space. See below.
10. If you choose the more settings choice, you can choose more options.
11. See below, if you click the drop down arrow you can see the choices.
12. I usually choose "Windows Media DVD Quality (PAL) (3.0 Mbps)"
13. Down below it will show you the exact details of what your movie will be.
14. Now when you are ready you can press on the publish button and the movie will be converted and saved to your computer.

How do I burn a dvd movie from the Movie Maker so we can watch it on a regular dvd player

Burning a DVD is not all that simple. Some Emachines come with a DVD player drive but not burner. Just because your system has windows movie maker on it does not mean it can actually produce them. You need to make sure it actually has a DVD writer on it and not just a player.

If so I would definatly look into some additional software for making DVDs as movies maker is flakyand not all that great. If you are not finding the option to burn the movie in movie maker the changes are you do not have a DVD burner insalled but just a DVD player drive.

I have saved a movie from movie maker and I have tried to burn it to a dvd. I see that it has saved it but it hasn't burned the movie to the dvd. How do I burn it to the dvd.

I beleive that in Windows, when burning something on to disc (be it CD or DVD), you have to go to the actual drive window (via "My Computer" and select "Burn these items to disc". From what I remember of the days I burned discs this then burns the file onto the disc.

Hope this helps!

Can't record audio

I have converted home videos on my PC this way. I have a Sony camcorder whose output connects
to my firewire card in the PC. I also use windows Movie maker. While it is recording, I don't hear the audio. After saving the file and playing it back, I hear the audio, along with seeing the movie. Windows movie maker allows me to stop, start, and record the movie. It has complete control over the
Sony camcorder by using the firewire port on the PC.

Trying to import video from Sony Digital 8mm camcorder and get about 2 minutes into the download and it freezes up. I have a brand new top of the line HP 9400 computer that should handle the Roxio Creator...

Try using windows movie maker software, it comes with windows xp. you can then import the video into Roxio after it is captured. I have used the Roxio Creator 9 and I hated it, always freezing up. I got the Roxio Creator 10 and it works much better. I think the problem you are having is the Roxio 9. I had problems with it and I have 4 Gig of RAM and a daul core 3.0GHZ processor, also a good computer. You may also want to try rebooting your computer right before you do the capture, sometimes that help me with the Roxio 9.
