Not working A piece of styrofoam actually got cought in the fan motor blade and stopped the blades from spinning. Now the unit overheated, I think, and everything is getting warm inside. Is there a reset button I can put to jump start it again?

If your fan is not runnig now it would be in your best interest to turn the machine off and call a service company so you don't do any damage to the compressor. you can reset macine back to default setting by turning the rf off for 4 min then turning it back on. if that does not get your fan running turn it off until a tech looks at it

My Kennmore side by side refrigerator stoped cooling after we noticed the fan underneath was not working! How can this be fixed!?

The fan motor will need to be replaced. First check to see if something is stalling the blade. A piece of paper or cheese wrapper could have been sucked in the blade. If the blade spins freely then the motor is probably bad they are usually not difficult to replace but the area will be hot so you will need to unplug the refrigerator for a while before attempting to replace the motor.

Samsung srs583hdp fan in fridge has stopped working , freezer ok , any ideas , its not the fan motor

First thing I would look for is some foreign object blocking the fan blades. It could even be jammed full of pet hair. First unplug the fridge then if you can reach the fan blades with something like a soda straw of cocktail stir-stick try spinning the blades to see if they turn freely. You should be able to "flip" the blades with a soda straw and have the blades coast freely. If not, then look for an obstruction. Also, I have to ask how you know that the fan motor is OK?

My magic refigerator/freezer condenser fan stops but when I move the fan blade it starts working and the refrigerator get cold again. Is it a bad fan unit or something else?

yes if you can barely touch blade and it stops the fan motor is bad. While replacing conderser fan motor be sure to clean dust from condenser coil. Then as regular maintiance clean coils twice per year.

Was vacuuming coils/bottom of fridge and my brush hit the fan and now fan is not spinning. Does the fan always spin or only when called for??? HELP HELP

If the compressor...the black can in the running then the fan should be running...
if it is not running when it should be, check the fan baldes, you may have bent one or more of the blades and now the fan is stuck because it cannot turn...
If so, just bend the fan blades back stright so they do not hit anything...

Loud fan noise

The fan in many of these units is very close to other things and the blades will bend and hit causing a terrible noise...either the fan has to be remounted or the fan blades bent to make sure they will not hit...
Then you will have peace and quiet...

Interior cooling fan has stopped spinning,

No fuse. The obvious thing is to check the motor itself, which means it must be pulled. Once you gain access to the motor, with the power shut off to the unit, try spinning the blade to see if it is bound up.
If it's spinning freely, remove it from the unit, and test the windings on the motor for continuity with a VOM meter. If you have no meter or access to one, or aren't familiar with electrical, then take the motor to an Appliance parts house. They can usually test it and most carry motors that are adaptable for beverage coolers. Make sure they know whether the machine is a 120 or 240 volt unit.
If I'm not mistaken that motor runs 24/7 when cooler is powered up.

Amana ARB8057C upper fridge not working

On further inspection, I noticed that the fan in the freezer was not spinning. I was going to check the voltage on the fan motor but then I noticed that the spindle on the fan motor as actually spinning but the blade was not. The blade is made of plastic and had come detached from the spindle. Therefore no cold air was been pushed up into the fridge compartment. I pushed the blade into the spindle (after power was turned off) and everything was back to normal. Unfortunately this is probably going to happen again because there are no bolts holding the blade on the spindle (an engineering flaw) but at least I'll be able to locate the problem much faster next time.

BTW: The fan assembly is usually hidden behind plastic shrouds. You need to remove shelves and take off a few screws to see it. Hope this helps others .... I suspect this fan assembly is used in millions of fridges and is a major revenue generator for fridge repair folks.

Condensor overheated

The reset should be automatic. If the fan is running now everything should return to normal after the fan cools it down.

Remove coil on back of refrigerator very gently and support the coil against a kitchen chair or counter. On the back of the refrigerator there is an access panel. Remove 4 screws holding the cover. Remove the bottom of the freezer compartment by removing screws and pulling bottom straight out. Remove Styrofoam panel from freezer by cutting tape along side edge. Once the Styrofoam panel is removed you will see fan blades. O n the front of the fan blade there is a spring. Pull the spring off by pulling straight forward with pliers or fingers. Remove the 3 screws holding the fan motor to the refrigerator in the rear access panel. The Motor should now be free. Unplug the plug from the connector by lock latch and pulling straight up. Now you must free the fan blade from the fan motor. Grasp the fan motor and pull straight out. This fan blade is really hard to get off. Try separating the two halves of the blade, where you removed the spring, with a screw driver. The motor is available from Good luck.

Noisy whirlpool condensor fan motor

These motors with the plastic fan are apparently failing so often that when I went to the parts store, the owner told me on guy bought 4 replacement motors for his condo complex. Buy the old version of the motor with a metal fan blade. You have to clip off the white connector on the wiring harness and then wire to the new motor using wire nuts (easy). It's a lot cheaper too - $49 for the motor and blade vs alost $100 for the crappy plastic one. Running llike a champ right now!
