Question about KitchenAid Superba Architect KSCS25INSS Side by Side Refrigerator

Not working A piece of styrofoam actually got cought in the fan motor blade and stopped the blades from spinning. Now the unit overheated, I think, and everything is getting warm inside. Is there a reset button I can put to jump start it again?

If your fan is not runnig now it would be in your best interest to turn the machine off and call a service company so you don't do any damage to the compressor. you can reset macine back to default setting by turning the rf off for 4 min then turning it back on. if that does not get your fan running turn it off until a tech looks at it

Replace the capacitor inside the control panel on the outside unit. The top of the capacitor may be puffed up.
The fan motor may also be going bad. Change the capacitor first. It will have to be changed anyway if the motor is bad.

My air conditioner tries to turn on, air comes out of vents but isn't cold, and outside the blades on the AC unit are not spinning. I hear a noise when it tries to turn on but they don't start...

Outdoor condensing fan motor has stopped running. This problem could be caused by a bad motor run capacitor. If your motor capacitor is not the problem, then more than likely you need a new motor. Is the fan blade tight, stiff or hard to turn? If the fan blade is hard to turn then you probably need a new motor

Have an expensive Hunter indoor/outdoor pedestal Fan that stopped working. It just "hums" and does not turn. Please help.

With the fan UNPLUGGED, try to spin the fan blade with a pencil or something that will fit through the blade cage.

If the blade spins easily, there is an electronic problem (control or motor) that must be serviced.

If the fan blade is stuck or very hard to move, the shaft and bearing are probably dirty and need to be cleaned. You can temporarily fix this with a tiny amount (a drop) of WD-40 applied to the shaft where it enters the motor. Spin the blade manually to work the oil into the bearing. If the motor spins freely, the dirty bearing condition is verified. To properly clean the shaft and bearings, the motor must be disassembled.

NuTone LS100 fan is squiling when it runs. Spinning the fan blade by hand when it isn't running doesn't make any noise. Am I correct in thinking that the motor needs to be replaced?

Sounds like it may actually be the bushing pack inside if the motor. Spinning the blade by hand is not going to spin it fast enough to hear the problem. If the unit is new, I would recommend returning it for exchange of a new unit. If it more than 1yr old, it's out of warranty and will be cheaper to just replace it rather than repairing it.

For less than $100 you can buy a newer, more efficient model. Depending on the size of the room is how should judge what unit to buy. An under sized unit will not pretty much nothing, except make noise and remove some of the steam. Remember to buy a fan with the lowest SONE rating as it will have the highest quality motor housing and best air removal.

I plugged up my wg5005 after a year in closet and it makes noise but the fan doesn't blow any air out..It runs but fan blades aren't spinning

you said 'it runs but fan blades aren't spinning.'

Taking this "literally" - what it means is that the fan blade is 'loose' on the shaft of the motor. Look at the fan blade, the hub - in particular - and you will see where a 'set screw' should be.

If it's still there and 'loose,' all you have to do is 'tighten the screw' on the shaft of the motor (on the flat side).

If the screw is missing - you just need to find a screw that will fit the hole and replace it.

All of the above being said - it's also possible that you are hearing the compressor run and thinking the fan motor is running when in reality it's not. In the case that the fan motor is actually "not" running - then you have a completely different problem - the most likely problem being the fan motor is defective - in which case you will be out around $150 and up to replace it.

With the cost of window units today being fairly reasonable - you will probably be better off looking for a new unit.

Still, on the chance you have a simple problem, i.e. a burnt wire, or bad capacitor - it might be worth it to have a Service Tech take a look.

Hope this helps.

hope this helps

Interior cooling fan has stopped spinning,

No fuse. The obvious thing is to check the motor itself, which means it must be pulled. Once you gain access to the motor, with the power shut off to the unit, try spinning the blade to see if it is bound up.
If it's spinning freely, remove it from the unit, and test the windings on the motor for continuity with a VOM meter. If you have no meter or access to one, or aren't familiar with electrical, then take the motor to an Appliance parts house. They can usually test it and most carry motors that are adaptable for beverage coolers. Make sure they know whether the machine is a 120 or 240 volt unit.
If I'm not mistaken that motor runs 24/7 when cooler is powered up.

One fan blade stopped working and is hot to touch

The motor is 'locked up' that's where the heat is coming from. It may have a bad bushing or something is jammed. Give it a good look over you may see it. Does the blade feel hard to turn?

Hello,help please

My fan is doing teh same thing. I have been taking the cover off and spinning the fan blade manually. It takes about 1 minute of constant manual vigorus spinning but as soon as its warmed up the fan blade spins easy and just takes off and starts working. Im sure its not the safest thing to do but it does get the fan running for the rest of the night. Once the fan has been turned off for a while the blade is hard to spin again and I have to start over with teh manual process. I am thinking its the motor being I can manually get it started by spinning the fan blade and think I will check on the cost for a new motor

Condensor overheated

The reset should be automatic. If the fan is running now everything should return to normal after the fan cools it down.

Remove coil on back of refrigerator very gently and support the coil against a kitchen chair or counter. On the back of the refrigerator there is an access panel. Remove 4 screws holding the cover. Remove the bottom of the freezer compartment by removing screws and pulling bottom straight out. Remove Styrofoam panel from freezer by cutting tape along side edge. Once the Styrofoam panel is removed you will see fan blades. O n the front of the fan blade there is a spring. Pull the spring off by pulling straight forward with pliers or fingers. Remove the 3 screws holding the fan motor to the refrigerator in the rear access panel. The Motor should now be free. Unplug the plug from the connector by lock latch and pulling straight up. Now you must free the fan blade from the fan motor. Grasp the fan motor and pull straight out. This fan blade is really hard to get off. Try separating the two halves of the blade, where you removed the spring, with a screw driver. The motor is available from Repairclinic.com. Good luck.
