Kenmore top load washer model 11026912691 lid switch
I set my washer to go through a second spin cycle. When I did, the load was VERY off balance. At the start of the cycle.....I THINK...the imbalance caused a piece (the important part) of the lid switch to snap off. How can I replace it?

Check door switch: If the lid switch is bad it will not drain or spin. Try this test: With lid open let it finish wash cycle. Press lid switch down with screwdriver. Washer should begin draining. Release switch. Motor should stop. Press switch a second time. Washer should start spinning as it continues to drain. If motor doesn't come on while lid switch is pressed, replace the switch. To bypass the switch, you only have to disconnect the power to the washer, tilt the console back, unplug the switch and using an short piece of insulated wire, jump the two outermost contacts on the connector coming from the console and plug the washer back in.
Following is a description of how to gain access to the console and how to remove the cabinet if necessary.
check the balance ring on the tub just below the tub cover and tub cover gasket which can be done from the top of the machine by removing the top cover, while doing this pull and push tub from side to side and see if it moves easier in certain directions, if it does you may have a tub spring broken on the tub leading to an un balance condition cause the springs stabilize the tub like a shock absorber on an auto, if this is it then you need to access the lower unit area by removing the front cover of the unit there are screws at the toe kick panel to remove this panel
Let me know how it goes. I'm still thinking and searching my repair manuals! Huuum Please remember to leave a rating!
KENMORE ELITE TOP LOAD
Washer stops, won't fill, rinse or agitate
• Check the following:
Is the power cord plugged into a grounded 3 prong outlet?
Is the indicator on the Cycle Control knob properly lined up
with a cycle? Turn the Cycle Control knob to the right slightly
and pull to start. Are the water inlet valve screens clogged?
Are both the hot and cold water faucets turned on? Is the water inlet hose kinked?
• Does the water level seem too low, or does the washer
appear to not fill completely? The top of the agitator is
much higher than the highest water level. This is normal and
necessary for clothes to move freely.
• Has a fuse blown or is the circuit breaker open? If problem
continues, call an electrician.
• Are you using an extension cord? Do not use an extension
• Is the washer in a normal pause in the cycle? The washer
pauses for about 2 minutes during certain cycles. Allow the
cycle to continue. Some cycles feature periods of agitation
• Is the washer overloaded? Wash smaller loads.
• Is the lid open? The lid must be closed during operation.
Washer will not agitate or spin with the lid open.
