Same problem, but think I should be using the 7 lead to scart cable these sell on line for about £13. I purchased my Archos 605 + DVR Dock etc from the USA so the leads only came with yellow red and white-vid and audio only. The European version requires component(rgb)+composite(yrw) plus another black sw one?

If anyone has any futher information on this I would welcome your opinions.

I've gone through 4 dvr stations and have sent them all back to Archos for warranty. They come back working, then fail after about 3 months. Now I have 4 non working dvr stations. The remotes work while the 605 is on the station, but when you send the image or video to the TV the screen is black but no signal to the RCA connectors on the station. I'm trying to find out what keeps failing so I can fix it myself. All my stations are now out of warranty. Unit still works great, but no watchin on TV at all.

I have a Denon avr-3808ci. I have a Dish Network DVR and a Sony KDS-60A2020 tv. If I connect the HDMI cable on the DVR directly to the tv, I get picture and sound through the tv. If I connect the HDMI...

You are correct. I feel your pain. This will not work.

HDMI is a pure digital signal and the providers require the content coming over the Dish DVR to be COPY PROTECTED. So it will not work unless the HDMI cable goes directly from the DVR to the TV. This is to stop people from being able to make their own recordings of Dish shows, or making copies of your DVR recordings. If you really want to run things through your reciver, you're going to have to use the "component" or "composite" video feeds, not the HDMI. Sorry.

Cyberhome DVR 1600

First thing to check is to plug it into a different TV set if you have access to one. If still not working, then suspect the cable or the DVD player/recorder itself. If it works fine on another tv then all depends on which input you have it plugged into on your main set - get the right cables to try plugging it into a different input on the tv (post back with the TV make and model and the details of which input and which cable type you are using if you need help with this). If you have cable or satellite or another DVD/VCR/PC - do they work on the TV? on different inputs. If not then the problem is either the TV or possibly the TV settings. How are you trying to send an e-mail? perhaps with some details we can help. Hope this helps :)

I have an archos 404. i have a dvr station as well. How do i get my movies from my archos to play on my tv?

The Archos 404 attaches to the TV using either a DVR Station or a special AV cable. The AV cable uses a special small audio-style mini plug on one end to the standard red, white and yellow composite video connectors on the other. The docking station can record from and playback to the TV. The DVR Station 5 uses S-Video and red/white RCA plugs for connection to the TV. Optionally you can use the yellow/red/white composite connections instead. Hook it up similarly to a VCR, input from the cable box to the input of the DVR Station and output of the DVR Station to the input of the TV.

Having problems gettin sky channels through archos i get to setting infrared settings and can not get code.dont know wether to connect dvr t the tv or the sky box

Remove the DVR station from the box, and attach the DVR adapter plate (found in the
DEVICE box); it is correctly attached when it clicks on.
-Take the Black Audio/video Marked "output" cable, and insert the connections into the corresponding coloured sockets, yellow>yellow, green> green etc. Make sure they are
inserted into the TOP row on the back of the DVR Station "Marked Out". The remaining
black connector should be plugged into the SW socket, which can be found underneath
the orange socket on the back of the DVR station. (If after setting up your ARCHOS the
picture is very green remove the black cable from the SW socket)
-Plug the SCART connector into the SCART socket on your TV set. These are usually
marked AV1, AV2, or Ext 1, Ext 2, L1, L2, Line in 1, Line in 2, Aux 1, Aux 2, make sure you
select the corresponding channel above (ie AV1 AV2 etc) on your TV set when you turn on
the TV.
-Attach the UK plug adapter to the Mains charger, and plug the charger into the DC-In
socket on the back right of the DVR station. Turn the mains on at the socket.
-Insert the powered off ARCHOS unit onto the DVR station, the unit will now power on,
and ask if you want to 'Switch to TV out', select 'Okay'. The 'TV output configuration' set
up will load up. Select 'Okay'.
-TV connection: When your DEVICE is connected to the optional DVR Station you need to
select the type of video output (Composite, S-video, component, RGB, HDMI etc), based
on how you have connected the DVR Station to your TV and what possibilities your TV will
allow. For the cables supplied and the instructions aboce you will need to select either
RGB or Composite. Use the arrows to go through the options and select either RGB or
Composite.
-TV Standard: this should be set to PAL (Europe). Select 'Next'.
-Now you need to test the settings, select 'Okay', the ARCHOS home screen should now
be visible on your TV set. If you have nothing showing on your TV, scroll through the
AV/Ext channels, the channel will correspond to the AV/Ext socket you connected the
cable to on your TV set. Use the ARCHOS remote to select 'Okay'; you have now set up
the output connection settings for your DVR station.
-You may need to adjust your output from the ARCHOS to match your TV, from the "TV
Format" options. Use the arrows on the ARCHOS remote to select the format of your TV
screen, so the ARCHOS unit outputs the correct picture size (ie 4:3 / 16:9 etc). Use the
arrows on the remote to select 'Next'.

I have connected my macbook to my tv using mini

Later MacBook (Pro) use a mini-DVI connector that does not pass analog needed for composite or S-video. Was yours ever working? And most DVI connectors do not pass sound as seen by your cabling. You cannot detect display through RCA. You just set it in Sys Prefs :: Displays, try some other settings, although your seem right.
I have a white early-2009 MacBook and mini-DVI to HDMI adapter (monoprice <$10) and HDMI cable and have not connected the TOS-link for sound, yet--just slideshows at 1920x1080. You will get a much better picture digitally. -Ken

Close captioning on HDMI

The TV will not display closed caption with HDMI input. It must either over-the-air (antenna) or composite input for the TV to manage CC.

To get CC with HDMI from your Comcast DVR, you need to configure the cable box. Instructions can be found here:
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/How_to_use_a_Motorola_DVR/Setup

If you want CC all of the time, this works well. But since you must power-off the cable box to change the setting, switching CC on and off is a real pain.

Your set-up is similar to mine (Sharp Aquos 46" and Comcast DVR). I have the composite output from the cable box going to a DVD-recorder and on to the TV. Whenever I need CC (usually to catch some mumbled dialog), I just rewind the DVR, and switch the TV input to the composite input. Then I switch back to HDMI to continue watching in HD.

Can only record in black & white?

try changing your Display/ TV Connection setting under the setting menu - it may need to be set to "composite" (not RGB) if connected as displayed in the instruction manual - worked for me anyway (hope it does you).

Archos 604 dvr blank screen

It sounds to me like there's an Component A/V cable issue. Please re-check the cable connections making sure they are connected correctly. When using the docking station and Component A/V cables you must be sure the cables are connected with their corresponding colors on the back of the DVR Docking Station. Also check that the format of the recording is compatible with the "TV Standard" in the settings menu of your Archos. It will be either NTSC (USA) or PAL (Europe). Be sure to check the Video Output Settings of the Archos to be sure it is set to the same type of cables you are using- component, RGB, s-video or composite. Good luck!
