Fixya suggested to check the impeller if the "LE" code appeared. I took off the filter covers and turned the impeller by hand. It felt like it "crunched". My mechanical experience told me that this was not a good feeling. It felt like something within the motor. The more I turned it the better it felt. I removed the impeller thinking that maybe something was trapped underneath. Nothing. I reassembled the unit and it seems to be working fine, and it's still very quiet. Is there any chance that there are some kind of broken bits in the motor that were cleared by turning it by hand? This sounds unusual - my experience is that motors can't tolerate that sort of thing. Any thoughts?
I had the same problem and it was the wiring in the door. The wiring was stuck to the "tar" type insulation on the door and one had melted and was broken-spliced and fixed wiring and insulated all wiring with lots of tape and now it works fine.

Re: lg dishwasher with "LE" code
Yes, the motor has an internal problem and will need to be replaced before it gets worse. You will need to call a qualified LG technician to replace this part. The part is covered under LG's 2 year parts warranty. If the unit is less than 1 year old, it is covered and should be replaced immediately.

I think you may be getting IE code which relates to water inlet problems. Either the water pressure is low or the inlet valve may not be working properly.

I just had my LG dishwasher fixed. I told the repair man that LE light was comming on. Even over the phone the repairman said its probably broken wires on the door. Me being in construction for years looked around the door for wires. Anyway the repairman took off 6 screws around the door, took the cover off. You will see about 50 wires taped together. He pulled them aside and visually checked them one by one. Sure enough two were broken in two. He twisted them together put tape and he was gone. $87.50 Still Working!
LE indicates a problem with the wash motor. I've replaced mine twice now. Check to see if something has the pump locked up first.
Motor can be replaced by turning unit on its side. Motor is on the bottom. First take off pump impeller from inside the dishwaser (left hand thread on screw). Turn unit on its side and remove cover. Motor is the one in the center of unit. LG part# 4681ED1004A. This motor can be ordered from repairclinic.com.

LE means locked motor disassemble the filter and work your way down to the macerator(steel chopper blade) remove it and see if the side labeled "this side up" is really up, its in english... dont think the chinese labourers paid attention to the warning cause i have seen alot that were wrong way
You also should remove the door panel and check for a broken wire (usually the blue one)
If all the wiring checks out - it is most likely a broken or locked up impeller.

The LE error code can mean that the impeller is damaged or there is some debris blocking the the sump area underneath the filter or the wash motor has failed. In that order.
Remove the spray arm and filter (9 phillips screws) - inspect impeller for damage, with flashlight, look everywhere for debris (watch out for broken glass!) Reassemble and test.
If problems continue, schedule as service call focused on the wash pump/motor.
The broken wire would be where the wires pass from the bottom of the door into the dishwasher body. A more likely cause may be a motor problem. A number of main motors have had problems with the magnets coming loose or breaking up, resulting in the LE code. You can remove the phillips head screws around the sump cover to gain assess to the impeller, which is attached to the end of the motor shaft. (via a LEFT HAND THREAD screw.) Turn the impeller by hand and listed for noise. Shaft should turn freely, smoothly, and quietly. If it does not, remove the impeller and the cutter bar, remove dishwasher from cabinet, lay it on it's side, and remove four phillips mounting screws from motor and wiring. There is a two year warranty on all parts.
ACCORDING TO SERVICE MANUAL, THE "L.E." ERROR CODE SUGGESTS A LOCKED ROTOR ON THE WASH MOTOR. CHECK THE WASH IMPELLER FOR A FOREIGN OBJECT. IF IT SPINS FREELY, CHECK THE WIRING TO THE WASH MOTOR FOR LOOSE CONNECTION.
THE L.G.HAS HAD A HISTORY OF MOTOR PROBLEMS.
YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO CANCEL THE PROGRAM AND DRAIN OUT THE WATER.
