Opening Pioneer PL-600 turntable

My PL-600 turntable is completly dead. I want to do some voltage checks on the power section and the speed control section, but I can't seem to get the enclosure open. Maybe the feet are removable with screws underneath, but I would like some expert assistance first.
Thanks
Paul

Dear pap 55,
The feet are removable, can be open. To check the dead set you donot need to open it. Remove the power cord from the wall socket, check the contnuity with multimeter of the two pin plug after switching on power switch of the system.

Listening to radio and it just went off, standby light not on, completely dead, changed the fuse in the plug, that wasnt the problem - help

If the standby light is not ON but there is power to the circuit, check the +5 to the processor section. If this is present you need to check the processor for oscillation ( Only if equipped) If not the fault relates to non functioning of the processor controller.

How can i slow down the turn table on a crosley cr 66 multiplayer with no control speed and it don't work pulling the arm to the right I tried that not helpful

The problem is in the motor of the turntable, the regulator is not putting out the correct voltage to the motor, and the circuit is often built into the motor making it impossible to service. The only option is motor replacement.

Hello. I have a Technics Micro System SC-HD505 and I want to buy a Pioneer Turntable PL-990 to connect in this machine. It will fit?

The PL-990, having its own internal PHONO Preamp/EQ, will operate with any audio gear that has a standard Line Level stereo input (aux, cd. tape, etc).

There is power going to the unit but I can't turn it on. The little red light is on but when I press the power button nothing happens.

Hello
Its system control section does not get proper voltage to go on. Just check whether there is 5VDC comes to main system control section. If not, check the 5V regulator IC for damage or loose solder contact.

Turntable will not turn, power goes on. Does this system have a belt for the turntable or is there a manuel or schematics to this system?

You will need to check your belt for wear. Lift felt on platter and check belt tension. It may need replacing. To replace, simply lift platter section of the unit, taking note of the belt position. replace and your problem will be solved

Tonearm on turntable wont stay on record

Remove the motor assy and you will see the main nylon large gear, it had 2 metal cams under the one screw on top of it. One is the start cam and it must slide freely on top of the other one cam. Over time the grease binds up under the start cam and it doesnt move back in as the motor moves the nylon cogs around and so it start over gain and again. Degrease and lightly lube the metal cam so it moves freely by using your finger, reassemble and test.

Turntable will not turn

spin the motor between your fingers, sometimes they develope a 'dead spot' if it comes to life let it run for a few hours, this may fix it forever.

Turntable not turning to play record............. power on............ please help my email address - diatmesa@aol.com

This could be many things like the following>

If its a direct drive turntable the motor could be "blown",
or motor electonic speed controller burnt out.
If its a belt drive turntable then the belt could be broken
or stretched and is slipping, or the belt can have dropped of a drive pullety.
Also there are speed control mechanisms to adjust the final speed of the
turntable to the recorded speed of the record like 331/3rpm, 45rpm 75rpm
These speed reducing mechanisims can slip and cause the turntable not to turn..
There are also other mechanical bits that slide and push against each other,
and these can get sticky and the friction increases so much that the power
from the motor drive causes the belts to slip, so you need to identify if a
friction problem exists as well..

If you are carefull you can look your self and find out which one of the above it is.

Be warned there are lethal voltages inside the turntable which can kill you....
so please dont have the power on when making any inspection or adjustments.

Cheers From YUBEUT..

Drive Belt on Pioneer PL120-II Turntable

clean the spindle with alcohol and put a single drop of thin oil at the bottom of it
the sticky stuff is the rubber corroding
if the belt is not too stretched , boil it in water with some vinegar for a couple of minutes , if its too bad then replace it
