The disk-drive has malfunctioned.

Search online for a professional "data recovery service".
For a significant fee, they can repair your disk-drive,
just long-enough to copy your files to a new disk-drive.

If it still has a valid WARRANTY, exercise the warranty to get it repaired/replaced.

If the warranty has expired, then open the case, remove the disk-drive, buy a new "compatible" disk-drive, connect it, and thus "revive" your external storage device.

My new verbatim 53018 1Tb harddisc is not working, my computer does not see it.

Im not sure what computer you have, but whenever I use an external hard drive on my computer, an icon either shows up on the toolbar, I dont think in your case thats happening or you would have obviously seen it, however if you have a start or home button on your toolbar on your regular desktop location then you can click to open your computer menu e.i. control panel, word, games,...etc.. look for your "computer" file, click to open, then look for "Hard Drives" or "Devices and Storage" also check and see if anywhere in those menus if there is a "Removable Devices and Storage" tab, if you find these menus and verbatim 53018 doesnt show up in any of your menu tabs then try creating a file on your computer and saving it to your hard drive in the "Save" file location, if its connected properly then you should see a message screen that asks you which location would you like to save your file, it should list all possible storage locations and hopefully Verbatim 53018 is listed.

Hope this helps you out.

Verbatim Model #USBPRO500 Shows up on list of

use the source (pc/Mac) that created the data to remove it.
you will need to re-format to get it to work on the machine you are currently trying to use.
(personally I always remove all partitions and format to "fat" (remove factory) this will make the drive work on Mac as well as pc)

hope this helps

I hve a Verbatim USB Portable Hard Drive with 160gb/go. Suddenly I notice the blue light on the unit is blinking, and my K drive (Verbatim) is no longer showing on my computer. What does this mean?...

usualy it means that it has an error, try checking that the cables to the drive are connected properly if there all fine try shutting the usb drive off and turing it back on after 3 min.
you should turn your PC off also and restart it.
if that does not work you need to post more information about your PC and periferal devices.

Verbatim external hardrive not showing up on computer?

A Hard disk making noise, does not sound too good. if it was waorking before on both PC's & not having issues then it has to be with the unit. try on a nother computer. if its the same thing i suggest you look for that warranty card of yours.

External hard drive doesn't respond

Shut your computer down. Disconnect you external hardrive. Power up your computer again. Power up the Verbatim and then connect to a USB port. You should hear a very quiet 'ping'.

Go to My Computer, and the Verbatim should be showing as one of your drives (probably Drive D). You should be able to open it from there.

Make sure that you have a Desk Top Icon for opening the hardrive, it makes it so much easier. Hope this helps

I can´t see the portable hard drive unit in my pc

I don't know too much but I may be able to help. I started by closing all applications and then plugged the USB into the port. A few moments later a window opened and when I right clicked it allowed me to make a shortcut to the desktop. The Verbatim icon is now on the desktop and I can click it and it opens. I have Windows Vista and can also open the "computer" option and the hard drive is there - mine shows as drive "f". I hope this helps. I am a good user of the computer but a novice at installing, un-installing, etc.

Verbatim 250GB External Hard Disk not recognized by PC

Almost always, when a USB drive doesn't assign a drive letter in MY Computer the issue is a Mapped network drive using the drive letter the USB drive is attempting to use.

With the drive connected, open DISK MANAGEMENT find the USB Drive, right click it and assign it an available drive letter.

Verbatim usb issue

Depending on whether youre on a mac or pc, you should go to DISK UTILITY or HARDWARE PROFILER or MY COMPUTER. You may need to format it to your computer's legible format type.
