It's recommended to replace all the defective parts first because if you only replace the defective resistor, it might burnt again if the convergence IC is shorted internally. I would also suggest to measure the other low value resistors with multimeter.
OK., I know this set very well. It almost never has a convergence problem.
With the set unplugged, remove the back cover--there is a small circuit board mounted ABOVE the main boards--it is about 10 inches wide and 4 inches tall---On the far right side of it are several DIODES---two are much larger then the rest--what usually happens is one of the large diodes is shorted--5 dollar part---the board only has a few plugs and 4 screws that hold it in---easy to remove--check all the diodes(the two large ones first)
If either of the large diodes read like a fuse you FOUND YOUR TROUBLE.
LET me know if you need ANY help or Advice--I am here to help people---I have seen several sets identical to yours with the problem you describe.
check this out I have the same problem check your solder spot make sure the solder points are not touching one another, that could be one of the reason is doing this or just to make sure you can desolder the stk chips clean the holes where the pins go trough the board and power the tv with board and if the tv start fine if could be bad stk chips be very careful when desoldering or soldering good luck about another is not worth it they cost too much around 350-450
On your model its usually will not blow the resistors unless the set has shutdown with 3 blink error. But if your set is still working except with bad convergence you should be ok with just getting new STK392-110 ICs , but change both convergence ICs.
Depending on where you purchased the iCs some companies sell cheap versions of those ICs. You can get good quality ones at the following link and they offer free tech support by on line instant messaging if you need help installing them. here is a link to their site. its normal for the set to shut down when you try adjusting the convergence and the ICs are bad, Replace both of the ICs also the resistors that power them and you should be fine. If you dont know which resistors you need leave an email at the site with your model number and they will email you telling you what ratings resistors you will need. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
