Question about ASUS AI Lifestyle P5N32-E SLI (P5N32-E-SLI-GREEN) Motherboard

1 Answer

No boot, continuous Beep

Hello,
I have following config with that motherboard: Intel E8400, CoolIt Freezone CPU cooler, DDR2 800 2 gigs, 2x 8600GT in SLI mode and 500W EarthMate PSU. After installing cooler for first time was not satisfied with CPU temps, and decided to change thermal compound to MX2. Took out and cleaned CPU, and installed it back. Put a bit much of paste on CPU and reinstalled the cooler. Now, when turning computer on I got no boot no screen and annoying continuous beep going for about 15 sec then pause then resuming for another 15 sec and of and on in cycles. Power is working, mobo led is on, all fans are working, cooler is working. Tried to clear CMOS with jumper - no luck. Would appreciate any help, comments. Very desperate.

I would take the CPU back out. Remove the excess thermal compound, you should only use a very thin layer. Make sure the CPU is oriented and seated properly.

No, that motherboard is 915P socket, and the E8400 is Socket LGA775, you will need a new motherboard to use that CPU.

It is true that your computer is working properly without any trouble.Three continuous beeps means that your keyboard component is not ready to input the data. That's why it is calling you as beeps. You might have to check your keyboard that it is attached with the CPU properly or not.

Continuous short beeps on power up.Then shuts down and trys again, then repeats beep sequence. 21 beeps in total before attempts to reboot. Power - 550W Q9400 Intel ESC 9600GT Video card 8 Gig DDR2

enter bios setup and check the temperature of your mobo and cpu if it's above normal and also check the cpu fan's speed if theres no problem with these three then try to remove all the expansion cards you have then reset the memory modules if the beeping continues try a different PSU and memory modules.

ASUS P5VD2-VM SE support for intel core 2 Duo E8400

Doesn't boot correctly?

If the CPU isn't supported, in my experience, the pc doesn't boot at all. If this is the case, you will have to buy a new MB to support your CPU. Sorry.

GA-EP35C-DS3R random reboots

Hi Buzznode,

First things first - once you have all the components properly seated (sometimes if a RAM chip or CPU heatsink/fan isn't quite right it'll cause those problems) clear the CMOS entirely. There should be a jumper somewhere near the CMOS battery - move it from the 1-2 seating to the 2-3 (with the system powered down) and count to ten. Move it back over and then try booting up again. If the problem continues, swap the memory chips. Otherwise repost once you've tried the recommendation.
