Question about GE Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

I got one of your microwaves on May 6th, 08. On Sunday June 1st it just stopped working. It will do nothing, not even light up, when you push the buttons they do nothing. The power is ok, I checked it by plugging something else in. It is under warantee, and need to know what to do. My email address is lujo@cebridge.net. Thank you Joan Denize

Power on lights etc push start button but it clicks and nothing happens

Hello :

This could happen because of bad door switch or a loose door mount .This is the main reason that microwaves not heat even if the other functions work fine .

Warning : A microwave is capable to give you a serious electrical shock even when it's unplugged , so I recommend you to call a repair technician for help .

good luck .

MV1502B over-the-range unit. worked good yesterday (sunday)morning, but stop heating in the afternoon. light, turntable and humming sound still, but no heat, placed piece of alum foil and no sparks

In all likelihood the mangnetron has failed, or perhaps even the Power Supply. or a fault that is shutting the system down for safety reasons You need to have it serviced by a reputable service centre/man. Ensure you get a firm "Quote" before proceeding, and remember these days the cost of repair can equal or exceed the price of a new one.

The microwave starts by itself and does all different things.

the power triac that is the main power controller for power to the microwave is starting to leak from the gate terminal and is firing the triac, just as if you pushed the start button

My microwave panel is not working.

Sometimes if the door switches are faulty then the touch panel may not respond. There are usually 3 switches, and I'd recommend if one if faulty replacing all of them as a set. Otherwise it may be a Control Panel fault.

Kenmore Microwave Hood Combination: over the stove Model #721.80602500

Disclaimer: I'm a DIYer, not a technician.

Our GE over-the-range microwave stopped producing heat yesterday while warming part of the T-giving feast. Everything else (fan, control panel, light) works fine.

After disassembly and testing last night, I discovered a defective "secondary door switch." Your Kenmore uses a similar switch (~$19 on-line), and that might be the problem. But it also could be other things, such as a bad thermal cut-out.

If you know anyone who's handy with a multimeter, most of the basic diagnostics seem to be pretty straightforward.
