Hi there Please Please help me with this issue as its affecting my job!
Im using Vista Home Basic on a Toshiba laptop, AOL as my ISP and Macafee is my viral software - and for some reason the radio broadcast that I listen to on the William Hill website isnt working - Ive updated Java, flashplayer9, shockwave, windows, unblocked the pop up facility, made sure the firewall wasnt blocking this connection etc - - - this is nothing to do with mute buttons, sliders or anything like that as the little screen in flash, actually shows you the connection on screen (which is now blank) so I know its not even connecting to the site so nothing is playing through the screen at all as its not even connecting.
Something I feel needs to be checked, unchecked, enabled or disabled somwehere and is soemthing probably simple and silly - but its driving me to dispair. the radio streams works on my stand alone system that has XP on it .. but not on the laptop with Vista on it.
The weekend though, it did do one of its famous system updates and since then a few things went haywire, the clock and sate had to be adjusted (I discovered this cause windows live messenger wouldnt work, but tis working now) and this radio broadcast wouldnt work, and still isnt working.
My partner (thinking that he was helping) actually did a system restore taking the laptop back a few years lol so retracing the weekends update isnt possible now!
Please please help me if you can!

Re: Radio Stream not working with Vista anymore?
Ok,you had checked all the ways so the first thing is sound is not installed properly or not working properly in your laptop. So you have check the laptop sound in the sound properties in the control panel. i tell the steps
Go to control panel and sound and multimedia panel and go to the sound tab and check the all the sound is work
Goto the desktop and there is taskbar in that the you can see the sound icon ,then double click it , advance properties and check the sound tab that are volume, microphone, wave, radio and select it and change it
change it and then it will not work then you have to reinstall the sound software in your laptop

Windows 7 is still in beta testing is it not? This means that various things are not going to work with this until they are ready to start selling to the public. You can not expect a program in beta testing to work with all periphial devices.
Ok, concentrate some updates both of the operating system and of devices on occasions they generate conflict with other devices, I recommend to you to stop the updates of the Win Vista and first to check that same this activated, in the equipments toshiba is enabled by the key sequence Fn +F9 If even the fault persists, I invite you to that you reinstate the driver of this form it must operate.
1. sound driver
2. microphone settings in volume control applet
3. tap test (tap the area around the microphone and see if eg Sound Recorder picks it up)
4. external microphone
If you get to step 4 before you get anything then your problem is one of missing or damaged microphone.
Definately not a "major issue"... it is a Software issue rather than a Hardware issue...
And most likely a conflict with your ActiveX controls...
Go to Start...Programs......Windows Update..enable if disabled.. and it will search for updates and hopefully install the SP1 update...
This update download apparently has patches for the exact error you have and that is a typical Vista "hiccup" error....
try that, if it doesnt help still, we can go from there..
Set ' Download Signed ActiveX Controls' to Prompt.
Set 'Run ActiveX Controls And Plug-ins' to Prompt.
Windows Vista installation failure
On some Windows Vista systems Flash Player may be installed, but will not display Flash content. In some cases updating to the latest Flash Player using the included utility can correct the User Account Control settings that cause this problem.
To run the utility, find your installed Flash folder:
Right-click C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\FlashUtil9d.exe The letter changes with each Flash version, so may be "FlashUtilb.exe" or "FlashUtile.exe"
Select "Run as Administrator"
Follow the steps to complete the Flash Player installation
