maybe its not compatible to the laptop the hard disk that you purchase try replacing it with lower capacity hard drive then reinstall the windows 7 again
You need to find the full model number to download the driver, but you can either do it on the laptop or another computer and transfer it to a thumb drive. Should be in an executable file or compressed folder. XP can open both using windows explorer by double-clicking.

Here is driver download page, Select notebook, select Portege M800 and you get all drivers download. You find Toshiba Portege M800 in Toshiba Asia only, there is no download in the USA page. Follow instructions to install them.
Which version of windows please? In 98 and ME your Hard drives are NOT set to use DMA.. In Xp the power management has toggled the cpu speed down.. These ar the 2 easiest solutions.. More info needed
