Set Duplex Printing (Windows) For details on how to set duplex printing, see below: 1. Select 'Properties' from the Print dialog. Note: Properties may be indicated as Advanced, depending on the application software. 2. Click the Page Setup tab. 3. In the Printing Type section, select 'Normal-size Printing', 'Fit-to-Page Printing', 'Scaled Printing', or 'Page Layout Printing'. 4. Select 'Duplex Printing'. Note: When a media type other than Plain Paper, Photo Paper Plus Double Sided, or Postcard is selected in the Media Type menu, duplex printing cannot be performed. 5. Specify Staple Side. 1. The printer analyzes the Orientation and Page Layout settings, and automatically selects the best staple position. 2. Click the Staple Side drop-down arrow and select the setting. If you want to change the setting, select another value from the list. 3. If necessary, click Specify Margin... and set the Margin width 6. When the setting is completed, click the OK button at the bottom of the window. Note: If a media type other than Photo Paper Plus Double Sided is selected for Media Type on the Main tab: The document will be printed on one side of a sheet of paper when printing starts. When printing is complete, reload paper according to the displayed message and then click OK. The document will be printed on the opposite side. If Photo Paper Plus Double Sided is selected for Media Type on the Main tab: The document will be printed front and back alternately for one sheet at a time, when printing starts. Load the paper according to the displayed messages. 7. You will be prompted, while printing, to remove the printed page and reload it in the ASF. 8. Dependent on the number of pages to print, you will need to repeat step 7 until all pages have printed. Back to Top

SOURCE: I am trying to print double-sided copy on card stock

HI there sounds like there is a blockage in the duplex area that is not holding any sensors down. Check the duplex area for torn paper, failing this it maybe a sensor problem which will then need a engineer.

Hope this helps
Thanks J

SOURCE: dark border one side of paper

This maybe your cleaning blade, your drum or the fuser unit....the best way to find out is to make a copy a to stop it before it's getting to the fuser unit ( that's the thing very hot). If you see your border it's your cleaning or drum...But when you replace a drum you must replace the cleaning blade to !

Hope it help !

According to my info this is an error detecting the home position of the image transfer belt. It may be a problem with the sensor or one of the boards, but there is also mention that if there is paper in the mbypass tray in low humidity environments that due to static electrcity electrical noise may occur and result in the incorrect detection of the ITB home position.

I would say first step is if you have paper in the bypass tray, remove it and restart the machine and see what happens. If your problem still perists i would recommend that you have a Canon Techncian come out to have a look

[email protected] I am trying to print on 110 lb cardstock and It keeps geeting stuck. I can't seem to find where I should change the paper type. Please advise.

Use the hand feed tray on the right side. When you put paper in this tray it usually will ask you to set the paper type. 110 lb. card stock is EXTREMELY difficult to copy onto. It might be better to bring this particular job to a copy center. This type of stock will put serious wear on your machines drum. Drums cost big money. Good luck.

I wish to use my HP Photosmart C8180 to print heavy weight cardstock... is there a setting that I can select to do this?

Step Three: Check the paper type Verify that only recommended paper is being used for printing. The recommended paper types and weights for most HP printers include:
  • Plain paper, 20 to 24 lb (75 to 90 gsm)
  • Legal size paper, 20 to 24 lb (75 to 90 gsm)
  • Card stock, up to a maximum of 110 lb (200 gsm)
  • Envelopes, 20 to 24 lb (75 to 90 gsm)
  • Photo paper, 145 lb (236 gsm)
NOTE: Supported paper weights and types vary by product. Check the Specifications sheet for your product for more information.

If you use card stock up to a maximum of 110lb then there should be no special mode to enter to print on this type of paper. Photo paper weighs in at 145 lb maximum which is heavier and can be printed on without selecting any special 'mode.'

Good luck on printing on heavy card stock.

Printed 2 sided copy now everything is printing 2 sided ITS STUCK

If you printed this from the PC you might have changed the default in the printer driver. Browse to printers folder then right click and choose Print Preferences. Look for 2 sided selection and make sure it hasn't been changed.

Hope this helps,

Information on how to use rear feed

1. Prepare your doc/file for printing.
2. Insert card stock with narrow side of stock in slot in back of printer until it hits rollers and stops. Don't force in any card stock thicker than max. rated.
3. Change printer setup to feed from rear.
4. Print.

Depending on what software you print from, you may need to change this each time you print if you intend to keep printing from that "tray."
