Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

No sound to speakers with power on

Dan,

The receiver is a DENON DRA-825R AM-FM Stereo Receiver. I do hear a click when the unit is turned on and another click a few seconds later.

OK, Dan. I'll look into it. Thanks.

I have this receiver but I am not a technical person. Make sure the connection from the pre amp to the amp is still good in the Bach panel.

OK. That tells me that the output section is good. This may sound silly, but check to be sure that the tape monitor switch is not on.

I will need to check the service manual to be sure, but this model used a TC9163 switching chip. If the chip has failed, there may be one input that works with the rest appearing not to as the inputs are never switched. Look inside for a 28 pin chip with the marking listed above. That would be my first guess for the defective part.

    Keep me posted.

Unit shut off. Why doesn't it turn back on?

Unswitched power has nothing to do with the power supply of the receiver. Look for blown fuses or a failed component on the power supply.

I have an old Denon stereo receiver DRA - 565 RD. Do you know how I can connect my iPhone to the receiver to play music from my iPhone?

You need a 3,5mm male stereo connector to RCA male jacks (see attached image). Plug the 3.5mm jack to your iPhone and the RCA jacks (red & white or red & black) to your Denon Receiver's CD in or Tape 1 or 2 PB (at the rear of the unit). Then select the input where you plugged the RCA to (front of receiver: CD / Tape-2 / Tape-1). Hope this will help. 25303676-z0ul41frrnrex4ege2epffps-1-0.jpg

When on FM tuner, stereo stops playing after a few minutes

Right then sounds like the connection from the aerial lead into the receiver - check out the socket where the aerial plugs into!

Is it loose at all or could there be a bad connection inside the unit.
Get the cover OFF and investigate yourself before you rush down to that very friendly repair man along the street.

My Denon Stereo Receiver (DRA-345R) (quite an old model but has worked perfectly up until now) has a very static reception on AM. FM is fine. It started when I had my DirecTV upgraded with a Genie (whole...

it's obviously getting interferance fronm that whole house broadcast unit (not abnormal!) best and only thing you can do is to move the stereo to a place where you can get the MOST am stations the loop ant. is exactly what it says it is a loop of wire with two ends..both ends connect to the ant. input on the back of the unit..however if that whole house broadcast unit is the devil then an ant. no matter what or how it's made will only recieve more static not built to reject static! so you've got to move it unfortunately ..fm is a totally different band obviously fm isn't being affected by that whole home broadcast unit..you're lucky! on that count

I have a Denon (receiver) DRA-825ra that has this issue: It powers on and you hear the first click sound right away, but the second click sound after five seconds does not activate. Can you help me...

Try plugging in headphones to the headphone jack, then take the plug out. Some models of Denon receivers had faulty headphone jacks in them that caused the unit to think there were headphones plugged in even when there wasn't.

AS SOON AS I TURN ON MY DENON-395 RECEIVER IT TURNS OFF

I REMOVED THE AM LOOP ANTENNA. AND THE UNIT WORKED. TO MAKE SURE THIS WAS THE PROBLEM I REMOVED AND REPLACED IT SEVERAL TIMES. EACH TIME IT WENT OFF AND. I THEN PUT ON THE FM INDOOR (WIRE) ANTENNA. THE UNIT BEGAN TO PLAY BEFORE EVEN BEFORE I CONNECTED IT. JUST GETTING IT CLOSE TO THE FM COAX. MADE IT WORK.
