Sounds like the knob is not on correctly, or is not the correct knob, or the plate with the numbers on it has moved. When it turns off naturally, does that line up with 'off'?

My dryer will shut off ten minutes into the any drying cycle and then won't let me turn it back on for another 10 minutes.

first clean filter, element could be putting out to much heat, and safty swich shuts it down, or it coud be a bad thermocouple, , lets hope its not the timer, if it does this on cool tumble, its ur timer, (dial switch)

Whirlpool model LGB6000KQ1 gas dryer runs but has no heat only cool air. The timer when set to timed drying, moves down to off position, but does not shut off. Please let me know what parts may be faulty...

If the timer advances to OFF and does not stop you have a bad timer. It could also be the cause of no heat. Replace the timer first. If still no neat replace the glow bar ignitor.

My dryer will not heat and timer works until the cooling stage

It's either the timer or insufficient air flow. check your vents to see if sufficient air is coming out.

My gas whirlpool dryer won't heat. Cool air does

Hi

Things that could stop a gas dryer from heating:
- glow bar igniter, thermal fuse ( not all models ), coils on the gas valve, gas valve, thermostats, motor heat switch, timer, selector switch, sensor.

Please do rate this solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Dryer doesn't shut off at end of cycle

You didn't say what the brand name or approx age. If there is no heat at this point, it pretty much is doing what it is supposed to....cooling down in the cool down portion of the cycle. A couple of things come to mind as i have seen this happen before, ( not saying it is the answer to yours as i don't know what brand or age etc.) I have seen contacts in the timer stick, and you can break them free by exercising the timer by turning it clockwise round and round many times as this will break the contact free. Another thing i have seen is excessive lint on the motor which restricts the movement of the centrifugal motor switch and keeps it in the run position. My best hunch is the timer tho.

Whirpool dryer won't heat up

You need to replace the thermal fuse and the timer. A bad timer will over draw a thermal fuse and cause it to blow.

Please remember to unplug the dryer before servicing

Maybe, but it sounds like the timer to me. They are usually not very expensive and simple to replace.

Whirlpool Gas Dryer, LGR5636EQ2, timer not moving on Auto (DryMis

If that is a 3 wire gas assembly then the timer is screwed. The orange wire when removed from the mix will make the thing advance. The trouble is in the timer. If that is a 2 wire gas operator you need to change the high limit and open up the outside vent. My opinion.
