That single beep is most likely POST. Power on self test. You're board, Asus M2N-E SLI uses an Award bios. The beep error codes can be found at this link: http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/awardbeep.htm
If you are using a single PCI-E card, check that you have the bios set correctly. Shown on page 4.4.6. Do you have you're memory in slot A-1 & A-2? Check that you have PCI-E set for primary display adapter, pg 4.4.4
For windows XP Pro with out SP2, please disale ACPI in you're bios. After SP2 & updates, you can turn it back on. It's realy odd that you're high power PSU did not come with an ATX 4-pin_12v connector for the board. (Needed for CPU).
This is a standard feature for current PSU's. Can you swap the PSU? Considering what devices you are running. You can easely run a 350w PSU? This swap would only be used as a test. Next test, go into the bios & go to Advanced, CPU configuration, check hardware monitor. Stay here a bit & watch temp settings.

Go over these suggestions. Let me know if any one of these suggestions has helped? Can you see the drive in you're bios?

Luck!
M

While connecting web cam to computer (mother board ASUS M2N-E SLI) the message of the system Excess of throughput of USB contrller

The camera needs more power than what the USB socket can deliver - 6 watts. Since a webcam normally uses less than 0.5 watts then either the cable or or the camera itself are defective.
Time for a new one.

My video card smoked and now my mother board, without the video card, beeps 4 times at start up. Is the motherboard smoked too.

Hi,

Try taking the memory out and reseat it one by one as i doubt the motherboard is "smoked" as you say. Beeps are usually an indication that something else is wrong.

Regards.

Not working 3-pin

Hello ota_cech:

I think you are trying to say that the 3 fans are NOT working.

If that is the case, try this.

remove them all from the board.

try only one fan in the plug.

I think what you are trying to say is that the three external fans are not working from the mother board...if that is the case....

Try by elimination one fan at a time, one may be bad.
Also that plug may be bad as something may have happened to make it have no power.
thanks,

Local area connection, no internet connection

My guess is the LAN port on your motherboard is bad. The simple solution would be to add a PCI ethernet card and disable the one on your motherboard in device manager.

No signal to monitor when booting.

(1) Remove memory from mother board and start the system if you happen to listen long beep then RAM is not working properly.
(2) Clean RAM conducting area on mother board with clean cotton cloth, put one peice of RAM and test and check the othe peice also, if working you could any sign display . Before doing all these check mother board any LED is glowing if so your SMPS is working after you turn on UPS.

(3) Check for all proper connection for all cables. Have you connected video cable of monitor to mother board VGA (it will not work because it is disabled as soon as you installed XFX GeForce 8800 GT), your viedo output only will come through XFX GeForce 8800 GT VGA port.

(4) If propelm persits Deassmble complete the system and reassmble & do n't connect HDD, DVD, floppy. Cehck with bare mother baord, processor, RAM (put one picese at a time) by connecting viedo cable of monitor
