Question about RCA D52W20 52" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

Have a RCA D52W15 w/ ITC222 board. TV will turn on and stay on for about 20mins and then it will shut off. I have been trying to play an Xbox hooked up through component cables. I even tried not connecting the sound cables to see if that was the problem. Right before it turns off the picture flashes black then red then turns off. When I try to turn it back on the green light will come on but will turn off after 10secs. I usually have to wait a couple of hours or even a day before it will turn back on. I have vacuumed and air dusted the circuit boards. When you first turn the TV (and it works) you can hear the three tubes power up (lite crackle sound) but once it turns off you can no longer hear them. Also the TV still has the high pitch humming sound when it isn't working. You know the sound, it sounds like it should be on but isn't. Any help would be great.

Take a good look at the power/deflection board. The one on the left as you are looking the back. You will find 2 ribbon cables that connect the power/deflection board to the small signal board (the one on the right). Look at the connector that the ribbon cables plug into. If they are black in color that is good. If they are white, that is bad. These connectors do cause intermittant power problems ( or a dead set). They need to be replaced. If they are black, take it to a repair shop.

You possibly need to replace either the Main board, or the power board, they both can be purchased online, and you can either install yourself or go to a site like Onforce.com and accept bids.

If this RCA TV has a Chassis number of ITC222 then you need to call a tech to swap out the deflection circuit board for a new or rebuilt board. This RCA Chassis is a TV Techs worst nightmare to repair.

Wont stay on after power is hit

Hello, I believe this may be a HV/LV power supply problem since this is a common issue in this RCA ITC222 chassis, I posted this earlier and I beleive that it can help you, Hello This is a common problem with the ITC222 chassis, I would check CP120, CP140, CP150 to see if they are bad I suspect CP150 is the one that is bad. Its value is 2200uf 16VDC. It is located on the same board as the IHVT and is in between the Heat sink in the middle of the board. I would also like to say that if possible you should get a qualified TV Technician to repair this set for you, due to the nature of this problem and the dangerous voltages present. I hope this helps, Shuttle83 http://www.electron-age-technologies-llc.com

RCA ITC222 Board

Also replace CP150 and CP120 then check for an open 1.25 amp fuse. It looks like a little tiny brown box behind the composite inputs about an inch inward. We always change those caps regardless of the problem. GO GET EM TIGER. Let me know?

52 in RCA

The RCA needs a flyback if its an ITC222 chassis which is waht the D52W20 RCA is. You can get a replacement flyback at the following link with free tech support so you can do the repair yourself which is a very easy repair. You need flyback number 259296. As far as the XBOX you should never play any video games on a rear projection TV as it can cause burn in on the CRTs if it is paused. video games are best played on a direct view, plasma or LCD TV. Rear projections like the RCa is not a good idea because of the possible burn in. heres a link to your flyback 259296

Intermitant problem idicates eather a component finally failing maybe overheating or a bad connection somewhere. IS the unit compltely dead now... NO green light flashing. or on no sounds clicks or smells. The rca ITC222 is known for shutdown. THe processor "sees" any problem at all it will shut it down for safety. You did what u first do that is unplug it and try again. Now the troubleshooting begins. Technicians have computer test equipment that can read errors from the processor. SO what is it doing now.
