Question about Acer Aspire 1642ZWLMi Notebook
As soon as I signed onto the Internet, my Compaq Media Center SR1950NX gave error msg "no windows\system 32\config\system" or similar. The fix is supposedly to use the factory disc to fix it--BUT COMPAQ DIDN'T GIVE SUCH A DISC. All is on a sector of the HD. Which cannot be accessed until the machine is booted up.
And the two-disc fix set I made when the machine was new gives only one option: FORMAT HD, essentially--put all back to as from the factory. All would be lost.
This is 3d PC that blew up after about 3-4 years of life.
Can I save it?
Hey I have the exact same problem.
I called Compaq and they made me pay $30 for 8 recovery disks. They didn't help at all! not even the full flush! I am extremely pissed off.
PS: I am posting this from my laptop
