Question about HP Computers & Internet
The sbm1040 chip is available from Digikey. It is a 40volt, 10A, rectifier diode. The previous chip suggested MBR2515 is a 15V, 25A Chip.

The Digikey parts came in and turned out to be about 5 X bigger than the original package!
I added wires to them and mounted them off to the side and away from under the heat sink.
Unfortunately, this did NOT solve the problem. It shut down sooner than before a few times.
Then I tried to go into the bios settings. But couldn't find any power management settings there.
So I went into the control panel and turned off everything like display, hard drives and low power alarms.
It still crashed one time (maybe I didn't reboot???).
I left the unit on all night with it stuck in the bios setup menu (not windows). It was still on in the morning. Hmmmm...???
Then I ran msconfig and put it in Diagnostic Boot. Then I putt it back to Normal Boot.
It's been running for over an hour now.
My daughter says it crashes when she loads Roblox. I noticed that the Charge led goes off for a few seconds. I don't remember that happening before except when it shut down unexpectedly.
I'm still not positive that it's fixed or which fix did the trick.
Also... I noticed that the screen was flickering a bit too.
I'm running off a Docking Station power and have tried wiggling the connector and banging on the unit to check for bad connections. Seems solid.

It's probably a SBM1040 and is available at Digikey as MBRB2515LT4GOSCT-ND. (I thought it was a "W" too.<lol>)
The minimum order is 10 Pcs. at $2.00 each.
I'm hoping this will fix the intermittent power supply shut-down problem.
The CPU is running cool and I re-soldered some loose connections on the memory cards that were also acting up.
I have the whole thing dis-assembled and there are 2 of these at PD33 and 34.
PD 33 is under the fan and requires very little disassembly to replace.
But since I have it apart and I need to order 10 pcs. I may as well replace both.
P34 is to the left of the keyboard and requires much disassembly.
I didn't need to remove the DVD or the memory, though I already did.
Mine is a zd7000.
Someone mentioned checking the schottky diode(s) if the battery charge light is going out when the shut down occurs.
