When this happened to my unit I had to have it replaced by RCA. Fortunately mine was under warranty at the time. About 2 years ago when this happened the RCA rep told me that the unit has a fairly low capacity for shock. So if you dropped it this could be the issue.

The Only Way To Restart It Is to Take Out The batteries for 60 Seconds and that should restart when you get it to the computer i recommend you see if your player is up to date if not go to the site and download whatever you need to do to update it

Make sure that when you transfer the audio book onto the player it is in MP3 format so that you will have the option of more than one track. If you saved it to your computer in the wrong format that can happen. The same thing can happen with music as well.
