Zune 30 item is missing or cannot be played and problem with the rights for this item error messages

Tuesday, June 3, my zune was working just fine, the next day I got error messages on the zune saying that the item is missing or cannot be played on some things (songs, pictures, videos) and problem with the rights for this item on others (songs mostly). I called zune "support" two days in a row trying to fix this. The first day we downloaded the 2.5 software (which I had not done yet) and the videos, pictures and songs that I had put on from my cds started working again. The music from the marketplace (both subscription and purchased) still won't play.

Day 2 we tried a DRM reset. Nothing. They want me to erase everything and resync. We tried a few songs. Nothing. It won't resync, but I can still download and play on the pc. Now they want me to clear the zune completely and start over... I will lose everything on there.

The first computer had most of my stuff on it and when I put the software on this one, everything was still there. Awesome. However, the reason it is now on a second computer is because it killed the first one, so I cannot resync to that one and will lose everything. Don't have enough memory to put it all on this computer. What can I do to make it all work? Or am I stuck with losing over 2/3 of my stuff? Is it possible that if I just hold out, they may come up with a solution/update for this as I've seen SEVERAL other people have had the same problem in the zune forums.... No one knows. PLEASE HELP. Thank you so much. Email: christyorf @yahoo.com

Hi if you tried doing a hard reset and the player boots up to 3 then goes away the HD ribbon cable could be bad. If If the player is getting stuck on any of the set when doing a hard reset then theres an issue with your HD. The HD might have a bad sector in it and will need to be ran threw some repair software to try and fix it. If that does not help then the HD will need to be replaced. The 120's are bad about having the HD fail in them.

If you need any more help, parts or your player repaired you can contact me threw my repair service web page at firehouse7777.weebly.com thanks

My zune 80 gb was working great and i have a lot music on it and now it says the item is missing or cant be played WHAT CAN I DO TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND CAN I SAVE MY MUSIC ALREADY DOWNLOADED ON IT

you may have some songs on it that are not compatible or just not a good music file.
when you see that error delete the song and see if any others will play.
some files may have been corrupted, you also could have downloaded a virus

As a last resort or if you are receiving error code C00D2772, erase the device, and then sync your content again. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start the Zune software on the computer.
  2. Connect your Zune device by using the Zune Sync Cable.
  3. Click Settings, and then click device.
  4. Click SYNC OPTIONS, and then click ERASE ALL CONTENT.
  5. When you receive the following message, click Yes: Please Confirm. Are you sure you want to erase the contents of the connected Zune? You receive the "Erase All Content" message. This may take several minutes. Do not move or disconnect the Zune device until the message disappears.

Zune 30GB black

if it says "contact support" restoring it will not work anymore. listen to the zune's hard drive. if it spins but makes a repeittive noise, the HDD is broken. if it doesn't spin at all either the hard drive of the motherboard may be broken. on the 80gb zune it's usually the logic board or the hard drive cable that causes this. there is a zune repair tutorial online gives you an idea on how to do the replacement yourself. parts are on ebay.
