I called Dual at 866-382-5476 and described this very problem in my XDM6351. I was told that I have a defective unit and if I return it with a copy of the receipt, they will send me a brand new unit. Of course, it was a Christmas present and there is no receipt in May of 2012! So, in otherwords, if you cannot find the receipt, just chuck it and buy a better quality product.
To download pictures, you can simply right-click the image and select "Save Image As" (if you are using Windows). Videos may be different and the same for music. To download videos/music you have to purchase a copyright.
If the video/music is made public and is free for download, you'll need a direct link to the file. Often, this link is given on the download page. You just need to simply click the download link to start the download.
There are various video and music types spread across the web. Some are easily downloaded while others are embedded in websites using Flash or other plug-ins. This will make them inaccessible.

If you have a Windows version that is older than XP, Rhapsody will no longer work. The written documentation says it will, but this is dated information - you will have to get Windows XP or Vista for it to download Rhapsody. Most other music svcs are the same way.
