The problem you are describing is a problem with one of the chips in the camera that controls image processing. It seems to have failed and needs to be replaced. Following are the instructions to send your camera to Olympus for service.
Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $112 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.
aiya, sameish thing happened to me. i have the olympus FE230.. and i actually dropped it on the wood floor, so whenever i turn on the camera light is red, and the lcd is white. i can still take pictures though...
yeah i was in Hong Kong and i was having a good time and my camera fell in a cup of beer ever since, it has the same symptoms mentioned above! i have washed it in my pants, its been dropped in snow, tumbled half way down a mountain but one cup of beer was the breaking point for mine. Now i was trying to see any troubleshooting tips for it because i am climbing Mt. Fuji tomorrow! damn So i am screwed! NOT BEER PROOF! MY suggestion, GO BUY A NEW ONE! Haha! The new model they came out with is great i bought one for my wife and she has used the hell out of it and it kicks ***! Feels cheap and not as tough as the 720 but it is tougher!
