Question about Kenmore 73502 / 73504 / 73509 Bottom Freezer Refrigerator
My amana SQD22NBW side by side refrigerator stopped working (fan/compressor. The lights continued to work. I read somewhere that it could be a defrost timmer. I also read to unplug it over night and try it in the morning when it is defrosted. (it never had any frost inside) I emptied it and left it open overnight When I came back to it it fired up (fans and compressor) (Oh my wife turned the thermostat cooler two days ago right before it stopped working) The refigerator is in the garage where it is around 90-100 degrees.
Do I need to replace anything? Will it stop again? If I need to what parts do I need to replace and are they hard to replace.
Thanks in advance!
If the compressor is at room temperature and no noise coming from it your problem could be the thermostat control. If the compressor is hot and you hear a hum followed by a click the compressor may have failed. Check the condenser and make sure it is clean. In those operating temperatures the compressor is overworking in the first place and if it is not getting free air flow across the condenser it can burn out. Best condition for operating any refrigerator is to remember that if you feel hot it feels hot. They are designed to operate in an place where we live and at the temperatures we live in.
