Ty this - there is one wire with a green end - plug this into the sound card on your pc.

Take the one wire from the left speaker and plug it into the main control box to the matching plug.

Is this connecting to a sound blaster audigy 2 zs or xfi soundcard? or a motherboard onboard soundcard/ aftermarket Other than creative?

If connected to the creative card odds are the wire is bad. get a new one

If connected to a generic the wires for the speakers are proprietary and you have to go get 3.5 to 3.5 stereo cables to hook it up

Connetc a subwoofer

Don't you have a Radio Shack, Best Buy, Home Depot, Walgreens, CVS nearby? Unless it's a fancy wi-fi or your computer sends esp signals, it is a paper weight. Wire is not your only problem, you would also need to have the appropriate sound card and if you had wire, you'll need a 3.5mm plug. You can rob the wire from a lamp, but you'll still need the plugs.

Suddenly my speaker volume is low and scratchy

Congrats, you yourself is a good troubleshooter. Just pinpointed your problem. What you just diagnoist can be easilly checked just by taking other good known speaker. If that works your speaker is short check for audio output wires. If not your card needs replacement. If need further clarifications just comment.

Creative Inspire 5300 Volume Control broken!

For those searching the answer "How to replace/repair Creative Inspire 5300 volume control":

Its simple : looking at the back of the suboofer, the pins are as follows from top right, clockwise : LED VDD , Balance pot middle leg, GND, pots + legs, Volume pot middle leg, on switch input. Connect one pots ends to GND and the other ends to pots +, connect a switch on GND and on switch input, anode of led to LED VDD, cathode to GND (there is a 1,8k resistor inside so no external resistor needed)
