Continuous beep does not boot

In my experience with Panasonic Toughbooks,
when there is a continuous beep then it means
one of the keyboard "KEYS" is stuck.
I would then press repeatedly every single key
in order to figure out which one was specifically stuck.
Otherwise try plugging in an external keyboard.
In the most extreme case, try disconnecting the built-in
keyboard and then plugging in an external keyboard.
A replacement keyboard should not cost more than
$20 or $30 except if your keyboard is one of the fancy
backlit keyboards. A backlit keyboard can be replaced
with a conventional regular keyboard without any
consequences. A backlit keyboard is usually $200+.
Good Luck,

Some of the keys don't work. I've tried the solutions suggested so far with no luck

I would remove the keyboard from the laptop, clean the keyboard and the flex cable that goes to the computer, make sure its clean and reconnect it, then try it again.

To remove a keyboard it varies from laptop to laptop, take it to a local professional if you can't figure it out, it involves unscrewing 2-6 screws and possibly removing the plastic keyboard cover from the top of the keyboard which is between the display.

Laptop keyboard replacement

I had the same problem ... spilled a drink on my keyboard causing the keys to stick

Symptoms:
1) Internet explorer browser always jumps to top of page even when trying to scroll page down
2) Windows explorer can't select any items except the top or upper most item or folder ... top item always stays selected

Solution:
Fortunately, the keyboard is pretty easy to access. According to the service manual ...
1) Unplug the power cord from the wall and laptop
2) Remove the battery pack
3) Remove the lid covering the hard disk drive
4) Remove the hard disk drive and bracket assembly
5) Remove the 2 screws from the battery compartment
6) Unsnap the "Middle Cover" ... that's the small panel between the keyboard and LCD that has the power button located on it
7) The keyboard can now be gently lifted out

Download the User Manual ... SG_AS7720_7720G_BOOK.pdf ... click on the very small, almost hidden, looks like a legal disclaimer, link near the bottom of the page labeled, "Save file to your PC: click here" ...

Replacing the keyboard on the acer 7720

remove the two silver colored screws underneath the battery.
Remove the upper part of the lightgrey top (the part with the speakers and the on/off button) which is clicked on.
Probably the backside is the best place to start...

Now you can lift the keyboard and remove the cable by first releasing the connector and pull out the flatcable.

Removal of laptop keyboard

Dear ctmom

Please find below the link to download the

HP Pavilion zx5000 Notebook PC, HP Pavilion zv5000 Notebook PC, Compaq Presario R3000 Notebook PC, HP Compaq nx9100 Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service Guide

Removing the keyboard firstly requires the removal of the top plastic strip in order to gain access with the screwdriver to the four screws. To remove it follow the instructions at pages 137 & 138 and you are almost there.

Then on page 139&140 you will find the information to remove the keyboard. It explains all the information very analytically. You are simply unscrewing the four screws on the top side. On the bottom it is simply slided.

TIP: Be careful when you are releasing the keyboard up towards you. The flexi cable that is connected to the motherboard is quite short-fragile and does not have a lot of space to move so go slow until you have released the connector’s tabs and the cable is loose to be removed.

Please remember to remove the battery before you do any work in the laptop.
