Usually it's electrolytic capacitors' problem inside the monitor. In case you can use soldering tools you can handle it. Open the monitor's case and locate near the power supply socket the capacitors like these

Replace ALL of them with new ones. The cost isn't too much and you can find them at any electronics components shop at your area.

My dell moniter shows purple light at the power button instead of blue/orange.... and its not workin.. wat could be the problem

First of all you need to check you keyboard light it may be the issue with your CPU. So check you keyboard light and press Num lock key if it's getting on/off when you are pressing the key. If it's working or not. It must be blink when you press the num key. If it's constent or not getting on then check with you CPU first ....may be there is some issue with you CPU. Second you can remove the cable from CPU which is connecting to monitor to check ....when you remove it from cpu it will give you some message on the monitor screen that check you vga cable etc. If it give's such message then it will be for sure then you need to your CPU fixed up.
So please comment back with your troubleshooting details , hope it will help out you.

Vga componet keeps showing up on the screen.

Assuming safely that you have a Dell E173 monitor, i would suggest the following steps to fix this...
1. Press the (+) button on your monitor to make it do an auto-adjust of the display.
2. On the on screen display (OSD) which can be evoked by using the menu button on your monitor - use the +/- key to get the factory reset option high lighted and press on the menu button to execute it.

This should take care of your problem, let me know how it goes!

Dell flat panel monitor -power button blinks green to amber - no

One reason that this is happening could be that it is on Power saving mode. This happens when the LCD monitor detecs an incorrect timing then thats the time that the LCD goes blank and the power botton starts to blink.

what you need to do is to turn the computer off. Unplug cables attach to the LCD make sure it is also off, once done press the power botton for a couple of 30secs to a minute and then release. After doing so re-connect all the cables and make sure that both ends is tight and secure once everything is ok turn the computer on same with the monitor to check if it solves the problem.

Dell E172FPb screen blinking

Hello,

If you've tested turning the monitor on without the VGA cable and it's still blinking I'd say there's a problem with one of the capacitors on the power supply card on your screen, when you're able to check it would you mind telling me the brand / reference of it ?

Dell E172FP 17 monitor keeps blinking

That sounds like the backlight inverter board. Check ebay for the board or a repair kit for it.
