According to my breakdown its a drill. do you checked if there is a screw inside the chuck. if there is one remove it by turning clockwise.open the chuck fully & insert allen key 5/16 or 3/8 short side to the chuck.tighten the chuck & wak the allen key with a hammer counter clockwise. do it again if required.putting back together the other way.

The chuck on my new makita drill is stuck with a drill bit in it. It won't open back up.

This is caused by tightening the chuck using the drills power, if you clamp the bit in a vice and using a pair of multi grips on the chuck in an anti clockwise direction gently bounce the grips and after a few tries it will undo, don't use too much pressure or try to unwind it in one move or myou will damage the chuck sleeve

I can't loosen the the sleeve that holds the bit and therefore I can't change my bits.

Stick the speed fix to 1, put drill in reverse, and hold on to the chuck as hard as you can, and squeeze the trigger.

The screw point got stuck inside of the makita

Low quality steel drill bits get stuck in the Makita because the hammer impact squashes the metal, forming a ridge that gets snagged on the anvil's steel ball bearing. Use only impact drill bits.

How do I change the drill bits and then tighten so the bits stay in the drill?

The chuck will not turn. So to loosen just turn the black plastic counter clockwise. The chuck will loosen. Or you can hold the black part on the chuck tight and put the drill in reverse and slowly squeeze the trigger and the chuck will loosen also. Do the opposite to put a new bit in. Put the drill in forward and hold the black part of the chuck and squeeze the trigger with the bit in place and it will tighten down on the bit.

How do I change a bit

This drill uses a keyless chuck. which means you have to hold onto the barrel by the end of the drill chuck. Then you need to put the drill in reverse to open the chuck to put a bit in. Insert a bit and then put the drill back into forward and hold chuck to tighten.

I have a Makita HP1621f Drill, and I cannot get the drill bit out, seems like the chuck itself is bad,any ideas on how to remove the drill bit?

Sometimes if you happen to have the right size bit, it will stick into the bolt that holds the chuck on if the chuck wasn't tight enought to keep it from slipping further into the chuck. Clamp drill bit in vice and tap chuck with soft hammer to pull it free.

Changing Bit

where the bit goes into the drill there is a metal ring. Pull the metal ring away from the drill with one hand and pull the bit out. this model you may have to pull the meteal ring twards the body of the drill.
