Question about Frigidaire FDL45P1 Dehumidifier

5 Answers

Fdk45p1 dehumidifier Exactly what does step d. on page 5 of the instruction manual (Continuous drainage) mean? Also, step a. has you insert the cap removed from the rear of the unit into the inside of the collection tray. Does that mean take the black tube loose in the upper front left area, or does it mean insert the plug in the hole above the tray where the water normally comes out? I don't have any Chinese friends available to decipher the instructions. Thanks.

The instructions were way too complicated when all you have to do is pull out the plug and stick in the hose. Thanks for the help 22yooper.

I had this same problem!! I was going to call Frigidaire, but have never found a chance to be on hold for an hour.  I just tried the solution listed. I think it worked!! However, I had put the plug into one of the holes that water comes out of to go into the bucket. When I took it out, water came spewing out. Also, brownish gunk came out (the plug has been in it for 6months-1 year.....the continuous drainage worked like that for several months, so I didn't know there was a problem!) I hope that I didn't ruin something because of this!!

On another note, I hate this dehumidifier. I have another one (a Danby) that has given me no trouble. My other trouble with the Frigidaire is that when I have to empty the bucket (which I hopefully will no longer have to do), I cant get it back in right. I have to slide it in to the unit and back out 10+ times because it keeps telling me the bucket is full. I usually get it to stop saying that by leaving the bucket in crooked.

I am so excited this could have taken care of my problems!!! Thank you FixYa website!!

Has anyone figured out how to get a 25-pint Frigidaire dehumidifier (model FDD25S1) to put water out the drain hose for continuous draining instead of into the bucket? It appears to be impossible to connect the hose in a way to avoid water leaking into the bucket.

Use 2 hose washers.

Working on the FDD25S1 myself. I just bought one. The old one (forget the brand) I had, I needed to put plumbers goop all around the hose connection. It worked but you could not take the hose off ever again.

I just checked my dehumidifier to see how it was doing. It is STILL filling up the bucket. A small amount of water is coming out the hose though. I don't know what it's doing. I guess I'll have to call them.

It means put the plug in a place where you will not loose it. Where you connect the hose to the bucket , make sure the opening which sometimes has a plastic membrane in it is clear so the water leaves the bucket and goes through the hose to a floor drain. The collector tray remains open.

Continuous drain means just that, not plugs in the bucket or hose to where it is being drained to.

I have a LAD704DUL frigidaire dehumidifier that will not shut off after being shut off, and not until the plug is pulled. Is this worth getting fixed

Dear Peter Nicolle,

according to the user manual the dehumidifier will not stop running for the following 5 reasons:

  • Windows or doors near dehumidifier are open to outdoors.
  • Area to be dehumidified is too large.
  • Air movement through dehumidifier is blocked.
  • Dehumidifier has been installed or restarted recently.
  • Dehumidifier is in the CONTINUOUS mode.
You can find more information on the user manual on page 9 under the category DEHUMIDIFIER RUNS TOO MUCH.

Is the drainage pipe (for continuous operation) the small clear plastic type, or a big garden hose?

Normally, a 48" section of regular garden hose, with the female connection end intact is all that is needed. The hoses female connect attaches to the mail connection on the rear of the unit. It must slope down and remain straight to drain into a floor drain. Proper drainage relies on gravity.

Hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

I just bought a Midea MDF!-30AEN3-BA4 dehumidifier and connected the continuous drainage tube to it and it still fills the water tank rather than dumping out the hose. I have tried it with the water tank...

If the hose is longer than 5 feet, that's part of the problem. The hose must slope down and straight to a floor drain. It relies on gravity to drain.

Although you just purchased it, the hose connector and inner tubing may be clogged. This is another reason water is diverted to the bucket. Turn the unit OFF & unplug it.

Using an appropriately sized, 18" long, plastic Zip Tie, carefully insert the tip of Zip Tie into the hose connector and tubing. Continue to push it in until you reach a bend in the tubing. You will need to gingerly work the Zip Tie past this bend, until it either bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Then slowly pull the Zip Tie back out while rotating (twisting) it. This will breakup any clogs. As you reach the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared, as some water may follow. Reconnect the hose, plug the unit in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the humidity extraction level to 35% or Maximum if you have a manually controlled unit. Allow the unit to run, while you the hose for water flow. It may take 5 to 10 minutes for water to appear.

NOTE: If you don't have a Zip Tie, you may use something similar ( i.e.a long pipe cleaner), but NO wire coat hangers
.

Hope this helps you to troubleshoot & solves the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

How to attach drainage hose to drain automatically

Because your model dehumidifier has an unusual continuous drain hook up, as compared to other brands, I have included a link to the Owner's Manual for your model. You will find the information on page 3. You can downlaod and print the, manual for future reference.

http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/content/pdfs/123922.pdf

One thing the Owner's Manual fails to mention is the length of the garden hose that can be attached to the unit. It should not exceed 5 feet. As drainage relies entirely on gravity to drain.

I hope this has helped you. Please let e know. Thanks.

Continuous drainage

Take out the drain pan and look in left hand top of the compartment and you will see a drain hole for the pan.Plug the drain hole with a small rubber plug, I used an electrical wire nut wrapped with tape and it worked fine.replace the pan and the water will run out the back. A 3/4" garden hose should work for the drain hole.

Continuous drainage not working

Make sure that where the tubing attaches to the unit is tilted out or it will not drain into the tubing but into the pan instead. Hope this helps 2rns4u <*{{{>(

A regular brass 3/4" FIP to 3/4" MHT connector with a garden hose washer between the bucket and brass connector was close enough to make things work.

Haier 30 pint dehumidifier continuous drain problem.

Many just attach the hose at the reservoir; from your description, Haier apparently has a separate location. Check that the point that the hose attaches has an opening (many don't, they expect you to drill it). It should then drain through gravity. Check to make sure that no part of the drain hose is higher than the bottom of the reservoir, otherwise it can't drain. It won't siphon because each time the the tank empties, the suction is broken and the siphoning can't continue.

Hose Drainage

yes, that is what the knockout port was designed for. Make sure the hose you get does actually thread onto the hose connection port before you punch out knock out. The hose should be a standard garden hose connector.
