Question about Toastmaster 1142 Bread Maker

1 Answer

Mixing After the first cycle (the machines first beep), the mixture does not turn into a ball. It is mixed up a bit but not in a ball like the book says it should be at this point. I checked the paddle when the machine was empty and it does rotate. All in all, it is not mixing properly. Any ideas?

How do I adjust my breadmaker for high altitude baking?

Hello, you dont adjust the machine, you adjust the ingredients. what you want is that perfect ball during the mixing cycle, not too sticky but a perfect bouncing rolling ball.

Why do all functions work but the mixture is not mixing?

Check to be sure the mixing paddle is properly affixed to the mixing post.
If the motor is turming and the mixing paddle is properly seated on the post inside the mixing bowl but it still does not turn, be sure the post can turn freely and is ont stuck in place. You may need to replace the mixing bowl.
If the motor is not turning you will probably need to seek out a repair service.

Welbilt bread machine kneading wont start.making ticking sound

some bread machines warm the ingredients before any mixing starts. If your breamachine doesn't start mixing within 1/2 hour then you DO have a problem. Give it a half hour before you assume it is broken.

I use my dough cycle to knead my bread....when should i add the raisins, nuts etc since i do not get a beep on this cycle....also what is the length of each process when making the dough.. i have...

Use the fruit bread cycle and remove your bread after it is done mixing it in since there is a beep on that cycle. You can let it rise on the counter then.

Lopsided 1.5 lb loaf

This sounds like a mixing problem. Put all the liquids in the bottom, then the dry, and finally the yeast on top so it mixes last.

After the first mixing, the dough should be a ball with nothing sticking to sides.

MEASURE ingredients carefully!

Verify that the paddle turns freely. If it doesn't, then dis-assemble the paddle and clean bearing and shaft. Lube with foodsafe grease before re-assembly.

My Black & Decker B900SC bread machine doesn't mix properly

Have you tried adding a bit more water to your mix? It sounds as if your dough is too dry. Sometimes, no matter how exact you follow directions, you have to compensate for variables of the machine. I have a similar problem with some of my bread mixes if I do not add an extra tbsp or two of water.

The ingredients aren't mixing. I have to take the dough out and

My experience with the machine is that it kneads perfectly, but you have to use ACTIVE DRY YEAST instead of another kind of yeast, and you have to throw the ingredients into the pan in order - do not mix the ingredients at all - just pour them in, and let the machine do the mixing. Except for substituting between BREAD FLOUR and WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR, do not substitute any other ingredients. This one is very picky about the type of ingredients that you use - not for the innovator :-)

Sorry, I don't know too much about breadmakers, but generally speaking, you add ingredients that you want to remain solid later into the mixture. If you add them before the dough is dough-y, then they'll get crushed.
