Door frame really hot to touch

When you open Frig door, you couldn't touch the frame with out getting burn and frig not cooling well. I removed the back cover the big round black tank in far left was hot enough to fry an egg. I noticed the fan was not spining at all and I assume this fan kicks on and off with some sought of thermal switch. I disconnect the fan and put a multimeter on the power side and was getting normal voltage (115-120), then I did an ohm check on the fan it self on the two power leads and it read open (shorted) and so I assume this is why the frig is overheating. LIke a car radiator, it the coil and condensor I suspect need the fan to draw air to assist in cooling. I am only guessing here, any help would be appreciated as I plan on getting new fan, but don't know how to remove it.

Also clean the coils underneath the unit as far as the fan (condenser ) you can put a house fan on the back blowing to cool the compresser until you get a replacement. That fan runs anytime the compresser runs

Hot refrigerator door jamb

This may be part of your energy saver. The opening around the door will be warm, but not hot to touch, to prevent condensation from forming during humid weather. If you have a switch in the frig marked energy saver, switch it to off, check to see if the frame cools. This feature is automatic in some makes and models and there isn't a control. If no condensation forms when it is switched off, it is not necessary to run the energy saver. Check the owners manual, if one is available, for information on your particular model.

no danger of fire, they(Whirlpool) run a copper heat tube through the center mullion of frig, to cut down on amount of undesirable condensation that may build up between doors, reason for extra heat can be from leaving door open too long, perhaps the coils under the frig need to be vacuumed,

Door frame around freezer door is very hot for a long time in side-by-side refrigerator/freezer

The problem you describe is caused by the hot gas pipe that runs around the cabinet, this is normal for it too get warm, the only reason it would be very hot is that for some reason the gases are not being cooled, probable cause is that the condenser is blocked with dust or fluff, depending on axact version some are located behind the plastic trim that runs below the doors and others are in the back behind the lower rear panel.
