My 360 is not reading any discs or dvds and there is no error message it onlys says "open disk tray"

You can do it yourself by opening the xbox 360 case and the dvd rom with a proper tools.. tighten with a screw (counter clock) right there!! (see the picture)

Try to insert a straighten paper pin into the hole under the tray if still no go You have to open the cover and take the cd out.

Sometimes other components inside of the DVD drive can become bad such as the motor that spins the disk, the motors that open the tray, etc, etc. You can get a new DVD drive to just replace everything,including the laser, in one shot but there is a catch. The XBOX 360's DVD drive is tied to the motherboard using a software lock.The easiest way to overcome this lock is to buy the exact same manufacture DVD drive that is in your system now, remove the circuit board from the old DVD drive (which contains the software key) and transfer the circuit board into the new DVD drive that you purchase. If you do this simple procedure, there is no flashing involved. Question mdn5024 do you hear the drive try to read the disk and give out in 1-2 spins?

If your console has stopped reading discs this can be because the receptors on the back of the drive have overheated and to fix it you will need to send it in or use a good repair guide to do the job.

If it won't play any games it might be the laser that reads the disk. I would suggest getting it checked out somewhere.

Hi, this is caused because your laser is either dirty or starting to fail. Take your 360 and turn it on, then open the tray. As soon as the tray is open, unplug your 360. Now with the tray open use a can of compressed air or an air compressor and blow out the DVD drive .And see if it is because your laser is dirty. Take your 360 and plug it back in and try putting a disc in it. If it still gives you the "open tray" error, then your laser is not reading the disc and needs to be replaced.

your lazer has packed in my sugestion is to buy a new one. i had the same problem

its the disk drive xbox will fix for 100 dollars this just happend to me finally i called them and they told me its the disk drive and soon it wont read dvds either
