you did not connect it to the right port in you tv with the right cables. if it came with a cable using red, blue, and green wire you need to connect all three to the appropriate place on the tv in this case the red is a video cable and not audio they are white and black in component video... if it is the other way around you have a red white and yellow cable the red and white are audio and yellow is the only video and needs to be connected to a yellow jack on the television
If your using the component outputs from your DVD player I would first check to make sure that the cables for the Red and Blue channels are connected properly. If the cable is connected correctly then try replacing both the Red and Blue channel cable. If this fails to fix the problem try connecting to another component input on your TV if you have one available.
You might also want to check to see if you switched on the progressive scan switch on the back of the VCR/DVD unit. If you know someone with another DVD player have them bring it over and see if the problem is still exists.
If the green picture is still present then the problem is and internal problem with the TV and you will need to find a repair center for it. If the problem goes away then the problem is with the VCR/DVD combo unit. You can at this point also try using just the Video Out from the DVD player.
Hope these suggestions will help you with your problem.
Reset you player by doing the following:
With the player on, hooked properly to your television, and on the correct station:
Open the tray
Close the tray (with no DVD inserted)
Hold the stop button down for a full 5 seconds
The CyberHome screen should appear. You should be able to play your dvd's now.
