Question about Whirlpool LER5636P Electric Dryer

Whirlpool dryer LER5636JQ0 won't turn on

I had to turn the power off yesterday via a circuit breaker for another project. Now the dryer will not turn on. The external fuses are okay. Could a thermal fuse in the dryer have gone out? If so where is it located?

The dryer was moved from one house to another and when it arrived at its final destination it would not turn on. It was working fine prior to the move but hasn't worked since.

The thermal fuse for your dryer is located behind the rear panel. With the rear panel removed, you can locate the thermal fuse as a small white plastic device located on the blower fan housing on the lower left-hand side (facing from the rear). A resistance reading should indicate close to a short (0 ohms). If the thermal fuse IS defective, the replacement part number is 3392519. You can find all this information at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your model number and look under the "Bulkhead" heading on the next page. The thermal fuse is listed as item number 7. There's also helpful part locator diagrams to assist in troubleshooting. I hope you find this information helpful. If you need further assistance, please post back and let me know.

I have a whirlpool electric dryer.. when I turn it on its been having a problem with staying on or not heating at all. It will spin and stay on but no heat.we have changed the element and it seemed fi

Sounds like a tripped circuit breaker in the power panel for the house. The breaker for the dryer is actually 2 breakers connected together so if one trips so will the other. Sometimes this does not happen and only one breaker trips. This condition removes power to the heating element but still supplies power to the rest of the dryer. Check to see if the breaker will reset by turning off and back on several times. Then check the power receptacle that the dryer plugs into with a voltmeter set to read 240 volts AC. If no 240 but 115 is present then replace the circuit breaker.

Why is there no heat to dryer

Check your circuit breaker for a bad breaker. If you can measure 20 V AC at the wall plug the circuit breaker is ok. If you read 115 VAC from one terminal to the center terminal then only one side of the dual breaker has tripped. There is no fix for this problem other than to replace the breaker in the power panel.

I just bought a whirlpool electric dryer and it won't work, it is plugged in and hooked up to the vent.

Is the circuit breaker turned on? Most people turn 220 v outlets off if not being used.

No power @ Dryer receptacle

Turn off breaker, Check and tighten lugs that feed dryer circuit at the breaker and at the receptacle, If that doesn't fix your problem you ll have to trace the wiring from breaker to dryer for broken wires.

My Whirlpool dryer is plugged in but will not turn on

I would start by checking to make sure the circuit breakers are not tripped. An electric dryer runs on 220 and will have a double circuit breaker - a gas dryer runs off of 110 and will usually not have a dedicated breaker. Once you have determined the power is on, the next most likely problem is the door switch. This prevents the dryer from being activated with the door open. You can "jiggle" the switch while attempting to start the dryer, or check the continuity with an ohmmeter.

Dryer will not heat and will not turn off at the end of the cycle

I had the same problem with my whirlpool LER5636. It was a power problem. My circuit breaker was fried (one side delivered 120v the other 26v). The dryer itself was fine. Check the breaker, the dryer outlet, and the connections where the dryer cord enters the dryer.
I replaced the breaker and all was well.
Good Luck.
