Question about Portable Televisions

Open Question

AKIRA DPS-6702TV I have this product which I just bought quite sometime, like 2 months ago. Then one day I use it to watch DVD movies non stop for 8-10 hours after that all of a sudden when I put the DVD movie in it always said "NO DISC" I tried to leave it 1-2 hours as I thought it might be overheated however I leave it for 1 long day and the outcome still the same..May know what is the cause of it and is there any solution on how to rectify the problem? Thanks

SOURCE: ''Disc Err'' no matter the disc I put

I doubt its a chip becuase if it was that hot chaip it would not be hot! For sure!

But what might be the issue is a bad hat, or laser foacus or even the laser itself. Its hard to tell I am not there but DVD players are a dime a dozen I am willing to bet if its 3 to 4 years old it might have past its prime. Even cheap branded players do not last 1 year so keep that in mind. fixing this will set you back in the financial of it. I would search other alternitives if this is a bad laser.

Thanks and please do leave postive feedback for those expert that are involved with your case today.

It depends how you burn movies (for example). If you burned as data disc, it's probably won't play it. Make sure you burn movies as DVD format.

The fuse of my Akira 14'' tv got burnt. i want to know if it might have destroyed any other ic in the tv set.

Hi ,

This is an indication that you have a short on the power supply section. It can't be fixed by replacing the fuse alone. Short usually near the AC line where parts like the following are present.

  1. Power Cord - even very low of chances but still to be check.
  2. Posistor and degaussing - even very low of chances but still to be check.
  3. Rectifier diode
  4. Main filter electrolytic capacitor
  5. Voltage regulator I.C.

This is the common parts that might be shorted and made the fuse blew. #2-5 is quite technical and need an expert to do the job so I've advice you to look for a qualified technician to isolate the problem. You may visit the link http://www.fixya.com/support/r8053361-fuse_keeps_blowing for more info.
Check also if your unit is under warranty, avail it because the manufacturer will fix it for free or a little charge only.

Hope it may help you.
Have a nice day!

I bought a Supersonic "13

By your description it is a high voltage problem, the horizontal output transistor is probably shorted and is loading the set down which would explain the constant clicking it is making. To repair this will more than likely run what you paid for the tv. But! if you decide to go ahead with the repair then an estimate would be in order because there may be other issues. My personal feeling would be to quit while you are ahead.

I can't figure out the password for my akai cftd 2050.

Try 1234, or 0000. Those are usually the ones that come factory installed. Good luck! If not, try searching password for (insert brand) online. It might be a common installed password. If all else fails, call the company.

Hard to get dvd player to work

How old is the set? As the player's laser ages it becomes harder for it to read discs. Audio CD's don't have as much data and are formatted differently from DVD's so they are easier to read. This is one possible cause. Hope this helps!

Has anyone else had this problem?

I bought the same tv about a year ago. I noticed that the power adapter gets very hot when plugged into the electrical outlet so I unplug it after watching tv. Better to be safe than sorry.

...the answer is correct...the power inverter for the cathode backlight is a complete failure with these Polaroid models.  Polaroid should really step up and fix a known problem.  Mine was purchased as a gift and not opened until the worthless 3 month warranty expired.  Didn't work out of the box!!!! I will never purchase a Polaroid product again since they obviously don't care about the consumer and sell a product that they know was defective.
