Try reinstalling the audio drivers first
as it seems to be an issue with either drivers or with the sound card
provide more info like
when was it working fine
wots the operating system you are running

I have the same problem.
Please note that the problem are not in the speakers.

The problem is actualy on the earphone jack. The jack clip is broken, so replace with the new one.

Another way is to repair the jack by slip smal wire into the jack re-position the metal clip to the right position. But this way is hard to do. Only the lucky one can do this.

Good luck!

I have exactly the same problem with the identicall Packard Bell M7302 - I got it second hand, everything was fine, untill I plugged in the headphones. After that - no sound from the speakers anymore. I wiped out the entire hard disk, reinstalled Windows - no sound from the internal speakers, only headphones output is working.

How to enable Secondary IDE in NEC VERSA M400

I presume you have bought a secondary hard drive and want to fit it to your laptop.
Firstly fit the new drive, it then needs to be initialised, this can be done by running Control Pane, select Administrative tools, select Computer Management. Run Discmanagement and find the new hard drive, initialise it and format it.
That should solve your problem.

My nec versa pro loptop has no sound when time i play music and videos

try external speakers or headphones. If it works then it's your speakers. If it doesn't, reinstall your sound drivers. If that still doesn't work then it's your soundcard. Then that's a pc tech job.

How to update ram on NEC Versa M400?

I don't know what a NEC Versa M400 is, but i'm prosuming youve checked under the memory pannel on the bottom of the laptop? if the rams not under one of the pannels on the bottom then you will find it under the keyboad.then just release the 2 clips on either side of the chip & it will pop up. pull it out & put the new one in,you'll see they only go in one way.

Volume on the computer varies with no manual assistance.

Unplug and plug your speakers. For a laptop like yours, you need to open it up to remove the motherboard for servicing.

In the meantime, remove your speakers and plug them back.

if you want to get more sound from your laptop you need to buy external speakers. To get the best result when you are shopping for speakers look for some that take an external power source (AC adaptor that plugs into the wall)

External dvd writer

You would be able to boot from the external drive but you will not be able to run an operating system from it. It would allow you to install another operating system if that is what you mean? If i understand you correctly though, you would like to say perhaps, have windows xp on your laptop and maybe run windows vista on your external? Maybe get to choose which one to run. This is not possible. Sorry. I hope this helps!
