Expanding on unicomuss solution : if you carefully pry off the plate covering the front panel buttons, you will find 2 more screws holding the glass plastic retainer down. I was able to remove all the screws in the feeder and the glass retainer and remove it completely for cleaning.

    Follow this link:
There is a detailed description of how to open and clean the feeder. But you will also see screws there. These screws have a 'star' profile so you will need a special screw driver.
First, turn the printer off. Open the feeder and on the back there is a plastic cover hiding connector tape. The part with stripes must be gently pushed and the cover removed, then the wire tape disconnected (you won't be able to remove the feeder otherwise! Do not use any power! you may break the plastic parts!). After you had disconnected the feeder, unscrew the 2 srews at the back and 1 screw in the front. Now you should be able to remove the feeder gently by pulling slightly up. WATCH your steps carefully and order the screws to able to assemble the parts back together! After that there are some more screws holding the flatbed. After you have removed the screws it will easier for you pull the glass with some force BUT carefully to the left (it is like a drawer). Do not hast, it may take some time (I couldn't find the way to remove the plastic cover holding the glass completely, but I managed to withdraw the glass, clean it and push it gently back. I also cleaned the plastic parts below the glass / be careful with the connector tapes! Good luck! PS: if you do not trust your skills, you'd better call a specialist.

Laserjet pro 200 leaving vertical lines when copying from flatbed

Since you are seeing this problem with the flatbed scanner section that usually indicates its not a glass cleaning problem. If the it is all the way from top to bottom then it's most likely the scanner imaging unit itself. It will need to be replaced or cleaned.

Cleaning your Printer effectively

Printer cleaningWhy? Cleaning the outside of a printer can help keep the printer's appearance looking good; and in the case of a printer that is used by many different people, keep the printer clean of germs.
Procedure: First, make sure to turn off the printer before cleaning it. Dampen a cloth with water or rubbing alcohol and wipe the case and each of the buttons or knobs on the printer. As mentioned earlier, never spray any liquid directly onto the printer.
Why? With some printers it may be necessary to clean the inside of the printer to help keep the printer running smoothly.
Procedure: Because of numerous types of printers, different steps in cleaning printers, and printer manufacturer policies on cleaning the inside of the printer, we recommend you obtain the printer cleaning steps from your printer manufacturer.
Scanner cleaning
Why? Flatbed scanners commonly become dirty with dust, fingerprints, and hair. When a scanner is dirty, the images may have distortions.
Procedure: Clean a flatbed scanner's surface by spraying a window cleaner onto a paper towel or cotton cloth and wipe the glass until clean. As mentioned earlier, never spray a liquid directly onto the component.
To clean the outside of the scanner, the same towel or cotton cloth can be used.

Black vertical line prints on the right side of every page.

Good Day Tkidwell!

Better check and clean the ADF platen glass and the flatbed scanner glass.

Use a lint clothe moistened with alcohol or water and gently wipe the dirt in the glasses of the ADF platen and flatbed scanner.

You can also try cleaning the roller by performing the deep cleaning.

Why is there a line on the left side of my copy when I use the ADF on my Canon Image Clas D1150? It does not do it when the flatbed is used. Please help. Thanks, Joann

When lines appear on copies of documents fed through the ADF, it typically means that there is some kind of dirt or foreign material on the glass that the document passes over. A different window is used when scanning from the ADF as opposed to the flatbed. The flatbed window is large, often much larger than a standard sheet of paper. The ADF window, on the other hand, is small and slender. It doesn't need to be large because the document moves over it (as opposed to the flatbed, where the document is stationary while the scanner moves under it).

The ADF window is usually situated next to the flatbed glass on the side of the scanner where the ADF takes in the paper. Open the scanner lid (as though you were going to make a copy on the flatbed) and find the slender piece of glass just under where the ADF would be when the lid is closed. Once you've located the ADF glass, use a mild glass cleaner and a lint-free cloth to gently clean the surface of the glass. If you are able to see the foreign material, you can remove it by hand, but be sure to clean the glass thoroughly afterwards, as fingerprints can also cause poor quality copies.

After the glass has been cleaned, test the ADF copy function and make sure the line has disappeared. If it has not, you may need to remove the slender glass and clean the underside (though this is almost never required, as the underside is protected from environmental debris).

Ihave a hp all in one printer scanner and copier, there is dust under side of glass how do I clean it the model is b110, been like it from new don't seem to be able to get hold off hp

HP says below that for your printer it can't be cleaned except by an authorized dealer. I know from experience that flat bed scanners/all-in-one's have small holes in and around the tray that houses the scanner assembly. If you take canned air and use the long straw that comes with it, you can usually do a fairly decent job cleaning the underside of the glass. It won't necessarily be perfect, but I've found that it's better than what I had before.

You may be able to find several spots to feed the straw through to blow air at the glass.

PLEASE....DO NOT TURN THE CAN UPSIDE DOWN AND SPRAY. You'll inject liquid into the scanner assembly tray and onto the glass. Have someone help you turn the printer upside down or on it's side if you need to get the angle to spray.

Flatbed products have a large scanner glass under the top cover.
The underneath side of the scanner glass cannot be cleaned on any product. This is unlikely to be necessary and should only be done by an authorized service provider.

Hp laserjet 2010 prints black line down side when printing scans from paperport 11

I have no idea what "paperport 11" is.
That being said, normally a line down the page when copying or scanning is caused by dirt on the Automatic Document Feeder glass, Not the flatbed glass. It is a thin strip of glass to the left of the flatbed scanner glass. Clean it.

Faxes sent are being received with lines on the pages

You need to clean the glass real well, the narrow one if you fax from feeder and the big glass if you fax from flatbed. After cleaning you power off and on so it will calibrate to clean glass. Test by making a copy, the copy will look just like a sent fax will look. If you still have streaks you may need a new CIS scanner, around $60.00

When using the ADF for scanning to pdf, it creates black lines vertically down the left side of the document. If I use the flatbed scanner, no lines.

Your machine ADF is dirty or dust in adf glass please clean it by soft cloth and scane again its clear and sharp.

Outgoing faxes have large vertical black line on receivers end. I have replaced toner and drum. Incoming faxes are fine.

Stop! Does not need any parts...

If you do not use the automatic document feeder (ADF), you will see that the faxes are clean on the receiver's end.
(In other words, use the flatbed)

OK, now the fix:
1. open the scanner like you are going to use the flatbed glass.
2. On the far left part of the glass top, there is a "speck" or smear of dirt that you should be able to see.
3. Use eyeglass cleaner / wipe or other glass cleaner technique and clean the glass on the far left of the flatbed. ok, clean the whole glass while you are at it.
4. Your scanner (you didn't mention the brand or model number) may have a narrow slice of glass on the left of the flatbed... clean that, too.
5. Test it ... it should be ok now.

Hope this helps!

Hi Sally,

Open the flatbed lid and look on the left side, I believe there is the flatbed glass and another piece of glass to the left, the small strip of glass is the one used for the automatic document feeder. this piece af glass needs to be clean or you will get a line from top to bottom from any type of speck on the glass. hope this helps... if so please mark as FIXYA!!
